Prince is taking over

I'm intrigued by the timing. Why now?
Could have triggered this option when we first got promoted.
Could have done it when we were riding high.
But does it now, when we have slid down the table, will struggle to go up and does it when he can't inject funds until this season is over.

Does noone else just think we'll continue on as we are. If hes bought that belgium club hes hardly looking at hitting the big time with all his investments.

He's probably hoping wilder can take the club up on minimal funds and therefore make a massive return on his investment. Don't think he's going to chuck loads of money at us for one second and i'm not sure I want a chansiri style investment anyway.
I also dont see were the Belgium club fits in, I assume there would be very little income involved in a Belgium club, I wonder if it has to do with EU rules regarding ownership, tax and income?

Maybe it's 20 years of the repeated bollock kicking that is following Sheffield United.

Maybe it's just that having The McCabes at the helm has always felt like a bit of a comfort blanket.

But something about this just seems a bit fishy.
The Prince has nothing to do with the Tuna industry ;)

Just a hunch....the Chinese will want the land and offer a fortune for it..McCabe could never be the one to sell BDTBL but some no-mark Prince who visits a couple of times a year wouldn't give a shit if we ended up at Don Valley or Sheffield airport in a soulless bowl of a stadium...
This was also mentioned, the real estate, now I am Sheffield born and raised, but I know that there are no queues of agents from abroad waiting to pounce on Sheffield real estate.

At least we might not have silly student flats and offices cluttering up the corners of our football ground like Leyton fuckin Orient, something that McCabe lost sight of is that the Lane is a football ground not a building plot.

Sorry, just asked the wife, it is on Facebook, one hour ago, from Jim's account, saying (something like)

"I am glad the statement is now out there, thank you Kevin McCabe for all you have done, god bless, thank you Prince Abdullah for all you have done, good luck for the future, UTB"

Might not be 100% same words, but that is pretty much what she read out to me

That suggests done deal. No negotiating as it’s already sorted

Welcome HRH. Don’t sell us down the river

Unless the Prince is richer than we have been led to believe, or he has others willing to put money in, then I can`t see any positives about this news.

I wonder if there was a time limited offer? Prince made an offer based on his value of the club. McCabe had to either stump up that value to buy him out or sell his controlling share.

Something that almost haopened with the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA

Just bumped into Prince’s Dad in Common Room. Says he’s agreed a deal of 24 multi packs of bog roll for Graeme Le Saux in’t summer
Why would Graeme Le Saux want 24 multi packs of bog roll and even if he does - what's it to do with us?

Guess the club is worth far less now at the top of the Champ, than it was 2/3 years ago floundering in the pub league.

To be honest I was more worried for the future of our club when we failed to gain promotion in "the chedgate" season. It was obvious if we dint go up we were fucked.

My opinion, for what it's worth (nowt), is that we could have been sold to some total unknown, but we haven't, or won't be.

The prince dude has been in a while now, we went for it under clough in Jan, supported Adkins well enough, payed him and all his shit players off (captain sharp excepted) straight after, and then backed Tufty.

The prince has put his money where his mouth is, and paid millions to fund losses.

We're perhaps only in the championship because his investment "Changed the game"...from division 4 to where we are now.

My favourite bit of this is that over the past few years, many fans have convinced themselves that we ‘don’t want’ to spend big money and are now all creaming themselves at the prospect of spending big money under a new ownership.

Personally, and not that any one cares what I think, I see very little change in terms of anything. McCabe and the prince are very quiet as owners go, and I can’t see there being a real change in terms of spending either way. As you were, I suspect....

Oh maybe with a few false promises thrown in for good measure, that’s a standard new ownership thing. Plus the 3/5 year plan that everyone says to buy themselves a few extra seasons! I’ll refer to this post when we are shit next season and everyone says ‘no, the owner says we have a 3 year plan, as they’ll be the 20th fan base that year to fall for that statement!

Is "think Liverpool" investment finally going to c e to fruition.

Is anyone else suspicious of his beard? What is that? It looks like a goatee with weird neckbeard added.

Not happy that Foxy likes this post. He's keeping Shtumm about Summat not reyt! Anyway, 20 years? Wait till tha's done over 50.

Not sure how I feel about this.

When the Prince came in I was excited. We were absolutely desperate for ANY investment, JimPhipps came in and provided excellent engagement with the fans, mustered up some enthusiasm that was severely lacking at the time. It wasn't an easy start, we trusted Clough and Adkins which in hindsight was a mistake. They probably got stung (financially) with this.

What we have now is a very special situation - A wonderful Manager, A special relationship between players, staff and fans with a feel good factor that has been missing for 10+ Years. I just hope that the Prince & his representatives appreciate how unique this is and nurture it with financial backing and respecting the culture which Wilder and his staff have created.

It would be very Unitedesque to balls things up when everything good is in place.

We don't know the Prince's plans, we don't know his financial power, we don't know what he can or can not do. Lots of estimates. Estimates panicking at the minute.

The guys not an unknown foreign entity, he knows the club has been onboard for a while, if he's about to get more serious with his investment, which he clearly is, then I can't see how this bodes badly for us.

The few times that I've met McCabe he's genuine and a lovely bloke, alas he's getting on a bit and could probably do without the stress, if he is on his way out of the club, I wish him all the very best and thank him for not pulling the plug when things were a bit Adkins. He's a blade.

This tread is falling into the Tuckman theory.
The uncertainty of it all is exciting for some and oh shit for others. I’m in the exciting bit :)

I wanted the brass band back at half time but beheadings and flogging are really up my street.

he'll get 2 lezzers out of Dempseys, bury them back to back upto their heads in the centre circle and get the bricks out. Not just a public execution of what's deemed unacceptable in their culture, but also a great example of "killing 2 birds with one stone".

I feel as though my life as a Blade is now changing. I don't like or trust foreign ownerships and I have the utmost respect for McCabe for whom I have fought many a battle on here. It was always clear to me that this day would come but nevettheless I am still very sad that the day has arrived.

My enthusiasm for the club is diminished from now. I do not like the shape or integrity of the sport of football in England and believe our working class heritage has been stolen from us.

I didn't 'support' McDonald or Brearley. I didn't respect the Wraggs but supported them. Woolhouse and Hassall never struck a chord with me. I respected and supported McCabe and will miss him. The Prince? Time will tell I suppose but trust takes years in the making. My perceived 'S2 Model' is now a 'Saudi Model' and I don't like it.

McCabe knows Wilder. I suspect, stress 'guess' in fact, the prince might find him a 'bit basic'. Watch out folks. If I was the Prince I'd give Wilder and Knill new contracts first day in control if he wants to provide reassurance.

We could in 6-12 months time be solely run by the royal family of Saudi Arabia, a country with a truly appalling human rights record, how can you not be excited?

Nowt wrong if you are playing the pigs and having that hanging over you.
How many games does he attend ? Didn't he just drop interest before very easily for a nothing job in Saudi ? Has he ever heard of Broomhill ,Broomhall ,Woodseats or Arbourthorne ,will he care , I really fear for my club going down a road I hoped we would never see.

He's just bought a pad in Gleadless.

As for the Prince's capability to own and run a football club, don't forget the naivety of Jim Phipps, one of his first appointed club representatives on the Board. Due to his unwise decision to partake in social media Phipps regularly showed his lack of knowledge of the game.

Mate, as far as we know Wilder could be the best thing since sliced bread to him. Imagine from a more positive perspective, if the Prince is serious and as into sport as he claims to be. He has man, who literally performs miracles with 3 thirds of fuck all.

Even if the Prince is being ruthless and wants to make a fortune, wilder is arguably the best chance of making that happen, and at present seems a good gamble to do so without mental investment.

Glass half full for me tbh.

Yeah too right, I doubt that he's learnt anything over the 4 years he's been involved.
