PNE Police even had their say after the game saying "It’s not a crime to sit in home areas of a football stadium as such it’s a club issue to deal with, if the stewards need assistance we’re more than happy to help however there was no request"

So what actually happened?

A group of Blades were sat in the Executive box high up in their Bill Shankly stand. Hard to say how many but I'd guess 20-30 maybe. I didn't notice them until the end when Wilder went over to wave to them, so assume he knew people in there. It was only that the PNE fans had gone that they were visible.

Don't know what they did during the game but they were stood clapping and cheering at the end.

No different really to what you sometimes see in our executive seats in the South Stand.

There’s a long thread about this on the Preston forum.

It seems that they have always had a policy of allowing away fans into their corporate area. There’s previously always been a reverence of corporate behaviour and not over celebrating and goading. It seems that they under estimated the demand from SU as it seems “normal fans” who couldn’t get tickets paid the extra to sit in the corporate area.

Apparently the Preston corporate types felt intimidated by the drunk and boisterous SU fans spoiling their day, they said if PNE fans weren’t so well behaved then there could have been ugly confrontation scenes.

The letter is, as expected, an apology to their fans.
They are now worried that normal Leeds fans on Tuesday night might also be in their corporate areas and act in a similar rowdy way.
I reckon the fact they lost and look like missing out on the play-offs had a bigger effect on their dissatisfaction.

If you go in the home hospitality area as an away fan, you’re specifically asked to not celebrate or sing for your team. To not respect that request is poor form. It’s not like you’ve a box to yourself.

I was in with plenty of Blades in the stand opposite, and no one acted like they were on the kop at BDTBL. It’s not a divine right to get pissed and act in the way you were asked not to in the condition of sale.

How disgraceful that supporters who legitimately bought corporate tickets should have the audacity to stand, sing and chant and then to cap it all, celebrate when there team scored/won. Now I wasn’t in that stand so don’t know the ins and outs and certainly wouldn’t defend any aggressive or insulting behaviour but I’d stake good money it was nothing like as bad as it’s been portrayed. This has even been backed up by some PNE fans. I’d say some of there own corporate people are just a little too frigid. It’s football not the fuckin local badminton club
