Pre-Match Press Conference:

Any away win is a good win.

Important to get back into positive points ASAP imo and we've done it at the first time of asking.

Considering how many changes since our last league game I thought it was decent enough performance.

We all know we need strengthening in certain areas, up top especially, but all good for me in the grand scheme of things.

I don't remember him winning a header all night, which surprised me. His hold up play with his feet though, was excellent. As you say, if we can learn from that and play to his strengths, that's going to be a massive asset.
He won defensive headers. But I take your point. I liked one moment where he chested it off and peeled of and set us off on a break. He’s intelligent. I think he’s going to be a big player for us.

Are Preston crap or are we very good, or was it a mix of both? More time together and a couple more additions to the squad and I think we’ll be up there with the best sides in the league.

Preston should probably change to rugby.

They were awesome at booting the ball miles over the bar and their rugby tackling skills were on point.

(How that tackle on Moore in the box wasn't a penalty I have no idea)

someone who works in media should put together a montage of ‘Preston Rugby Club’ first game of season highlights from our match and post it on YouTube for a laugh. I can think of two quality tackles and three drop goal attempts just off the top of my head.

Not blaming them tbf. Always quite liked Preston as a club and I think their lads were at least trying even though their heads dropped. Surprised how it’s unraveled for them as a club but just shows that without significant investment, even well run champ clubs cannot compete in this league any more. Imagine Lowe will be gone soon.

Plenty of elements to improve upon. Had a spell of giving the ball away cheaply and the final ball/cross was very 50/50.

Having said all that, we were still dominant with a team that has only played a handful of friendlies so far. Very encouraging start indeed.

Think we may actually be a really effective and entertaining team to watch this season.

I really enjoyed watching us pass the ball. It was nice to see the confidence and ease with which we passed it about, rather than treating the ball like a hot potato and trying to get rid of it as soon as we had possession. There was one spell where we were making it look like a training session, but making up ground as we did so.

We also looked disciplined off the ball, which helped with the fluency of our passing - everyone seemed to know where they and the rest of the team should be and could make intelligent and well-considered moves as a result.

And finally… they looked like they were enjoying it, which is something I haven’t seen for some time. Hopefully exciting times ahead. We’ll face more tricky opposition, but having the basics in place will really help us.

disciplined off the ball and fluency.

Something that pissed us off with Hecky. MGW, Iliman and McAtee bailed him out big time.

The American commentary (nigel reo-coker and some random bloke) before the game was all about how we are a physical side who like to bully the oppo and preston like to play out from the back. Basically alluding to the fact Preston would be the more cultured team of the 2.

Dumb twats. The old tired cliches are still hanging over us. I think we will be able to shake that cliche this season.

It was nice to see us actually bully a side for a change. Albeit we did it with style. Arblaster and Souza are going to be formidable in this team if we can keep them together.

A great performance we should have won by a bigger margin but nay mind we won. Arblaster outstanding Souza very good. if we can keep this standard up we will do well.
