CCV and Carruthers in for Fleck and Duffy (hangover). No Brooks in the squad. Winter is coming!

I assume CCV will play in Basham's slot, bushing him into midfield. Duffy will be a huge miss. None of our midfield triangle starting is a big ask.

Brooks not being in the squad is a concern. No heard anything about him being out injured, which could mean he's off in January (or he could just be ill)

If we can get something out of today it will be a great achievement.

First time on a game day since September when you have to say we are not favourites to win the match.

I expect that Bash will be pushed into midfield and CCV will come back in.

Personally I would switch to a back four today, I think Stearman and CCV would be more comfortable and then flood the midfield with five and play Clarke up top as loan striker. However I dont think CW will do that and we will stick to 3-5-2

Tough ask today, a point is always decent away in this league and would snatch your hand off if offered one today with our depleted ranks.

Think we may go down 1-2 or 1-3 today.
"A Loan Striker" I had hoped he signed a contract;) UTB

Sometimes you wish that statisticians would find another job.

  • Sheffield United's Championship win percentage when injured midfielder Paul Coutts has appeared this season is 69% (11 wins in 16) - without him, it is just 20% (1 win in 5).
Fortunately though, statistics change. If this is our season blip as expected ,rather now than March/April. UTB.
Predicting 2-2

Brooks off in January then?

Possibly but very unlikely that he will miss the games before Jan. He must be ill not to be on the bench otherwise wilder would have started him.

Not confident at all with that midfield solely because they have had very few minutes on the pitch as a trio.

Dont want to be negative but I expect a 2-0 loss today now :(

Never thought I would see our 3 first choice midfielders all out at the same time.

If we get anything today it will be a massive achievement from the team and management

No matter the result..... UTB as always :)

Predicted a return for Lavery, hope he gets time and not because we need a goal but fk me, out of nowhere Heneghan and Slater (although somebody else predicted his inclusion), this is starting to look like the United of old with very few options. Brooks obviously a worry but time for all the lads to step up and take the strain.

On paper, that for me is easily the weakest team we've put out all season although some of the changes are unavoidable obviously.

I really hope they prove me wrong, but I fear the worst.
Agreed and with Lavery Henhegan and Slater on the bench it shows how many we've got out but also our lack of strength in depth

Have we picked up another string of injuries or somat?

Duffy and Brooks don't even make the bench

Our powerhouse midfield 3 is suddenly down to nowt :(

Is it all going tits up?

Agreed, but I have a funny feeling we might nick something. Big game for Carruthers in arguably his best role.

Duffy is ill. Not seen anything on Brooks, but if something is going round could be the same.

It's a huge game for Samir. I've been less than impressed with him but will happily eat humble pie if he puts in a game winning performance today.

Nothing more than Duffy and Brookes being ill.

Great for Slater to be involved. Slater being involved does not show lack of depth in my opinion. Coutts, Fleck, Duffy and Brooks all out. So bringing him in is great for the lad.

Seems we are in a bit of a pickle against an in form Preston.
Wilder and the players will see it as an opportunity to show what they are made of.
Blades 4 Preston 1
Bash,Clarke,Sharp and Lundstram to score.

and if that comes off I’m off for a lottery ticket.
UTB.
