Didn't Presto used to be a major sponsor of SWFC? (not that it's a problem)

Yep they did.

I think one of their directors/owners was on the board at the Sty. Don't think that is still the case.

They always had lots of sponsorship at the lane as I recall. Them and GT Motors (I think) who had the leggy lass sprawled over an Austin Montego on the back cover of the programme.

It was owned by en ex chairman - Bert Mcgee - he packed it in and handed over to Dave Richards who also ran some engineering firm called 3 star engineering (I think) which went bust (again, I think) - then he proceeded to get the pigs in debt mid 90's which led to the big over draft with Co-op bank....rest is history. Then he joined the idiots at the PL.

Thick as thieves - those S6 lot (oh dear nearly forgot........allegedly) !

My "local" Presto (near where I worked rather than lived) turned into a Safeway and then a Waitrose. I believe the Presto/Safeway were the same controlling company, but don't think Waitrose had any connection.

I used to work there when I left school, the shutters at the front were painted blue n white and bert magee used to do all his wendy business in the directors offices, a wendy shithole if there ever was one, but a few good blades worked there..

He was a tight arse that bloke, paid peanunts and treat everybody like shit....

That "john macdonald" in the pic, if its the same bloke he's been there forever, and he started on the tools, think he's a blade, if my memory serves me... was a lifetime ago, I left in 1990..

Not fussed about them sponsoring us, they'll be wendy forever as far as I care..

We used to walk through a loading bay door about 15 foot high to clock in, painted in blue and white stripes, all the doors were the same, I have no probs taking their money, but that building is rubble now, and the presto tools of now appears to be just a brand that's changed hands, and is as such just a name now.

It will always be a logo and company that reminds me of "them"
