Hope it's only the club captain's job for Sharp. For team captain we want an uncompromising centre back who's going to organise, motivate and dish out the necessary bollockings. Centre forwards can be too isolated at times and don't rarely suit the armband.

Is this the first potential criticism of Wilder?

Who had 20 minutes on the sweep?

Unfortunately I've just had to buy a second as I've put so much weight on since my operation that mine became more than just a bit of a tight squeeze and I've got two important dates coming up at the end of this month
Same here ,sister in laws wedding coming up ,and mines a funeral suit ,6 of them already this year ,I sense 10 minutes in Matalan coming up :)

That doesn't sound promising it has to be said.

The less budget I'm not surprised about, and in some respect has probably motivated the decision to bring Wilder in – a likely cheaper option potentially able to offer more savings in the players he brings in.

What I'm more worried is the fact a number of players we should be binning may be allowed to continue. Unless the surprise is nobody is offered a new deal...

Now is the time to really back Wilder in the transfer market. It is a great opportunity with the squad having a potential to be so small before he starts, with all the out of contracted players he could get rid of.

If Wilder isn't given the budget he needs then it shifts to McCabe being the issue. I know I'll get people saying it's always been McCabe but I don't think it has.

McCabe wasnt to blame as much for last season, because Adkins was backed fairly well, certainly enough to see progress on 5th. It's not like Clough wasn't backed either. They just gave him too much control and let him run ragged instead.

Tuftys mistakes so far:

Sharp captain

Letting Knill wear a blue suit ( even though it's the only one he's got)

McCabes patsy as promotion through the play offs will be acceptable.

His comments on the retained list prove he's going to keep some of the shite because he used the word surprise

Willing to hold a crap scarf

Any more?

Will Wilder/Knill be unveiled on Saturday?

How much is the 'budget he needs'?

He's not as tanned as Adkins. I like a manager to be orange.

Certainly not "less than the previous manager". Because although it's probably possible to do it on that, it's going to make it ten times tougher. Plus, he needs to rebuild an entire squad for christ sake.

We could do with a good budget due to the size of the rebuild required, but Wilder still shouldn't need to spend as much as Clough wasted to put together a decent side.

As I've said a thousand times before, we need to get in early for the free agents. Reduced budget or not, there'll be plenty of space on the wage bill.

Wilder will know what's what already so there's no reason for delays.

Exactly this. We look on enviously as clubs like Burton and Walsall finish above us, and they had a fraction of our budget.

High wage availability brought us some right old shite in past.

I now Im going to get hammered for this but actually some of the player we have got and just out of contract are good enough to get us out of this division. What we really lacked last year was management ,they had no pattern or formation to follow ,no motivation ,everything was off the cuff ,no direction no team spirit ,all in all , shit management. With a few good additions a good manager could galvanise (Wilder word) this squad and endeavour (Adkins) to take us up. Personally I think Wilder is the man to do this.

You still planning on entering the "Not Guilty" plea?

How much was the last managers budget then?

Let's see. At the end of last season I blamed Clough for being too negative. At the end of this one, I realised our players are just poor and blamed Clough for bringing them here. Remember, under either manager they finished as near to relegation as automatic promotion, points wise.

Bin the lot for me, but I hope you are right.

Less money is never a good thing. Last time we did this (I think that year's idea was to copy Yeovil) Weir would've got us relegated. The budget had to be increased to get us out of that, as it will this time round in all probability.

At the game at Hillsborough in the year when Wendy went up, I sat about two seats along from Alan Knill in the directors box. He is VERY tall. The leg room in that box makes the gap in Ryanair seats seem like first class beds. I think his legs took up his seat and the two either side of him!

Knill's record as a manager is pretty poor, isn't it? Mind you, many good assistants make bad managers.
