My argument is you ALWAYS give what you see as a problem but refuse to suggest a solution by naming a player... A sweeping statement of ''someone with more quality''
is a pathetic answer.

And suckers like you always fall for it.

Indeed you did not. So again
Sheffielder asked ''who would you sign instead?''
So to clarify Duh he means if we'd not signed Doyle.

NAME THE PLAYERS YOU WOULD SIGN AND AT WHAT COST YOU BELIEVE WE'D GET THEM FOR.

I'm not getting your logic.
We need a quality player - we had one in Reid for example - but you appear to be arguing that if we can't get one we should buy another player in a position we already have covered instead?

i believe we should sign a whole new 11 of quality players. problem solved. :D

Nope just one in midfield, where it is obvious we need one - or if not, if we think/gamble Williamson will stay fit, possibly a speedy winger.
As far as I'm aware, we don't have much money.
The usual approach in that situation is to prioritise and probably not to buy the kind of player you already have.

I was under the impression MA was hoping to bring in a left winger on loan before end of the market to go with one permanent signing. Now we have the permanent signing.

Disappointing signing, we really needed an experienced centre half on a permanent deal plus Reid back until the end of the season (I know the latter might still happen if he doesn't get fixed up elsewhere but its looking much less likely now).

who would you sign instead?

Johnnie jackson from charlton, pilkington from huddesfield, rhodes from huddesfield, hill now on a free from wolves, austin from swindon, healy from sunderland, tommy lee from chesterfield, theres many players in the lower diversions that look like they could play at a higher level, theres also going to be many loans to frees in the summer coming out the premiership

Some good shouts there syd. I agree, all those players could do a job in the Championship I reckon. I would however be a little cautious about signing lower league players in our predicament. We need to make sure we've got the right sort of experience to keep us up....it will be valuable for the rest of the campaign.

As for the players you mentioned, moving forward next season they would be the sort of players to look at.

cheers i would like to disagree to them being at the wrong time these players will try harder as they need to prove themselves rather than bad attitude youngsters from bigger clubs getting experiance as they wouldnt sign permanantly for us anyway.

Most of them are good players but where would you get the money from? Rhodes, Austin, Pilkington and Jackson would all cost £500k+

How much will relegation to league 1 cost us? Season tickets? Match Day Revenue? Shirt Sales? Reputation? all things that would be far less going down than spending some money now and getting safe.
Swindon would crumble under pressure as they are far from safe, Huddesfield will bottle promotion and therefore have to sell at the end of the season to recoup wages paid out. But if we go down then they we would havew no chance.
Only thinking outlay to future income, you may have a different opinion.

But it's not up to us to suggest who we should and shouldn't sign, it's up to the experts isn't it? The management at the Lane who we're constantly told are professionals, have been in the game years and are therefore way more qualified than us to make the decisions so why get all het up? No one at the Lane listens to Len, no one at the Lane listens to you so what's the point in speculation, it all falls flat in the end.

You could name hundreds of players who'd be better than Monty but we'll probably never end up signing any of the.

I offered my services to United a while ago - I offered to travel round the Balkans for 6 months for £20k plus expenses and I'd come back with 1,000 midfielders better than Monty, available and willing to come for £2k a week. Unfortunately, nobody came back to me.

not getting rid of monty is the downfall of all of these managers.. 'ooh he's worked with mickey before'.. old boys club??
