Trying to think of Heckys signings that have been a bust. Anel and the two city loanees have done very well. Maybe he knows how to sign a gem. Well, heand his staff do.
 
  • Giles from boro would suit us so well
  • Coady if everton go down would fit into our back three
  • Billing from Bournemouth if they good down, think we need some height in midfield
  • Che Adams back, don’t think he’d cost too much and I think he’d be better in our formation instead of being a lone striker
  • Tavernier again from Bournemouth, always looks decent and being left footed would help balance the side out if we can’t get McAtee back
  • Struijk from Leeds is a left sided centre back which is always a problem area for depth playing the way we do
  • Johansson from Rotherham has been one of the stand out keepers this season for me, would compete with Wes for the #1 shirt
  • Beyer who’s been on loan at Burnley from Monchengladback, think they’d have first dibs but another who could slot in at RCB and move Anel centrally
  • Ballard from Sunderland, liked the look of him when I’ve watched the few games on tv
  • Clark from Sunderland too, same as above, could be a good attacking option as LWB but defensively not great, maybe best him playing in a McAtee #10 role
  • Kyle Walker, probably still the best RB in the world for me, showed his quality against us on Saturday and still is fucking rapid
  • And last but not least Doyle and McAtee, I’d love both these lads back next season, they just get the club and they learn from each game - especially McAtee, the Luton game he literally looked like a lost boy but he’s grown into such a fantastic player who’s matured and aged in a season

Not saying we can buy all of these but think all of these could fit our shape really easy which helps integrate them better

As a fan base we are going to need to be patient as it could feel like we have half a team at the start of the window.

I totally agree need to invest in academy and first team tradinf facilities. Will £25 mill be enough? You would think it would go a long way towards being enough. Thing is that according to John Garrett when we did the Stadium Tour (well worth doing if you haven’t done it) last time we went to PL we had to spend £20 mill on the ground to comply with Sky requirements - mainly better media/Sky facilities. This time we don’t need to spend that as we are already up to that standard. So that money can this time be directed to the Academy to upgrade.

We signed the sloppy seconds from the next tier down of Championship elite players.
 
If we were looking at doing what Leeds did when they went up and hoover up some of the better youngsters in the Champ Birmingham are worth a look they Have Hall, James and Bellingham all getting significant minutes in midfield this season I think Hall and James have played most of their games that impressive for 17/18 year old lads. If they kick on next year they’ll be a lot more expensive this time next year.

Some interesting shouts but IMHO a far far better GK than Wes and Johansson will be required. Either would be ok as a deputy but Utd will need someone of the ability of Henderson, Johnstone etc. if they're going to have any chance whatsoever

It's about levels though isn't it? We were looking at first teamers, Leeds hoovered up almost academy level from which some are now emerging.

If we could afford it I definitely agree! I just can’t see us spending 10/15m + on each player personally, so thought I’d add a few that might be around the 5m mark

Johnstone would have been around that price before he forced his way back into the Palace side. However (high) wages will also need to be considered

I’d seriously consider Jobe Bellingham at 17 he looks like a future monster and the other two Hall and James are apparently wanted by Leeds Leicester and Bologna.

Some good shouts in there for sure. All about opinions and I'm not knowledgeable on a few on your list but I know on some. Che Adams: great shout but would imagine he'll cost a lot both in transfer fee and wages and I suspect some of the clubs who stay up will be interested. Leeds or Everton for example as he's done well this season in a struggling team. Clark from Sunderland is a good player but he can't play LWB in a team that's just got promoted in my view. We don't seem to play with an attacking mid these days either so all that would be left is the second striker - where Ndiaye plays. Granted there's not much difference between an attacking mid and second striker but we need goals from whoever takes that role. He could step up and he's got 10 assists also but he plays more as a winger for them/left of a three behind the lone striker. He could be a decent option though and is still young. I'd rather sign Hamer from Coventry who plays in more of a midfield role for them but has similar goals and assists.

Not so sure Johansson is any better than Wes but I've heard good things about him like we all have. I've said this about ten times on various threads but I'll keep saying it. Carlton Morris from Luton would be an affordable option and someone who is coming to his peak and has pace, strength and can shoot with either foot. He's someone I'd like to consider. Giles is a great shout if Boro don't go up. O'Brien from Forest I reckon could still be a decent deal as I think there's a really good player in there and would suit our system. Forest just signed so many players and as a result you have two or three games where you're not on top form and Cooper changes players. I think O'Brien could be a really good signing for a lowish fee and has years left too.

I didn’t realise Carlton Morris was 27 I thought he was in his 30’s so I agree actually he could be a good signing. I think Giles is nearly a must signing for me, that left hand side has probably been our weakest area both going forward and defensively and he seems to have it all. O’Brien is another good shout if the fee is right (need more depth and quality in midfield for next season). I was going to suggest Hamer but I’ve only seen him play against us so wasn’t sure what type of player he was, I’m really surprised he’s had similar assists and goals as Clark, thought he was a more niggly midfielder (like Fleck back in his prime days). I get what you’re saying about Adam’s but I think we made the mistake last time in the Prem not having an out and our goal scorer who’s been there and done it before. Would like to see someone with pace and power (like Mousset - but not made of glass) who’s quick on the counter 👍🏼

Yeah me too on Morris, I thought he was 29. Only thing is he's had his injuries but he looks really handy to me and excatly the type we lack up top. I love McBurnie but he doesn't offer mobility, pace and strength like Morris does. Morris is also better in the air.

I think with O'Brien that whilst some might say that it doesn't look good if he's not made it at Forest, but ultimately we need to sign players who if we get relegated will be assets and suited to winning back promotion because realistically we know we could be back there season after this! That's not to be defeatist but a realist. Signing Mousset types is not what we need although don't get me wrong he looked class at times in that first season and for the money we paid Wilder did well there. Under Wilder we shopped in the Championship too with Robinson and Freeman but I never thought Robinson was up to much in the Championship myself, Freeman I really liked and he was beset with injuries and we never played him in his best position in the Duffy role. But there's some gems still in the Championship that can step up. It can be difficult to not pay over the odds though as we experienced with McBurnie, but with Morris I think we could get him for £10m and I think he'll do really well.

I don't know that much on Hamer but those stats seem really impressive and in the highlights I've watched he looks really good. Many go on about Gyokores but I think he'll definitely be circa £25m and I'm not so sure he's any better than Morris. He'll probably also go to a bigger team.

I'd love Coady from your suggestions but not so sure we'll be able to afford him and he is someone who will command big wages and has little sell on potential. We'll have a limited budget and if we get relegated we may well need to sell one or two to reinvest in the side. I'm sorry to keep referring to the Championship, especially in terms of recruitment with one eye to the Championship, but as I say if we get relegated (it's likely or 50/50 given the gulf in class to the Championship) we need to be strong financially and yet when we came down last time under Wilder we were skint (largely due to Berge, McBurnie and Brewster fees) and had it not been for Ndiaye (not too many of those for the price we got him from Boreham Wood!) we could well have been stuck here for years as we have previously after relegation.

Some would argue Berge and McBurnie have paid back their fees, and yes they have after yesterday, but it could well have been that we had to sell both for less than half what we paid for them. I'm sure under McCabe that's exactly what he would have done! So it's a real balancing act between signing players who are to become assets both on the pitch and financially if we sell the, but not paying over the odds for them. Anel is the best example of a player not costing much but who has become a huge asset.

Definitely mate, it’s a tough one to predict who and what types of players the management will go after. Especially as Anel was out of the blue and from a foreign league! I mean if we can sign 5 more players for 4m and has Anels ability and potential then we’re onto a winner 😂

Great lists, abit too British for my liking though. Manning however is a great shout. Him and Piroe have been putting in quality peformance over and over for Swansea. ⚔️ Hamer would be my #1 Championship target.
 
I reckon we need to move early now we know we're promoted. Could get the likes of Manning if we enquire before the season ends i reckon. Can't see any chance of us getting Scott or Brereton Diaz. Think they'll both go elsewhere. Do think Piroe is a decent should though and attainable. Also think ship has sailed for Wallace. Would have loved him last summer but he chose WBA so he can bollocks 😏

100% think we'll unearth a couple of unknowns that will be a surprise but I think they'll be from Belgium, Scandinavia, Netherlands etc. Don't expect us shopping in Italy, Spain, France etc but depends on work permit rules now I guess.

I really like Chair, think he’s everything Khadra should’ve been but might be a bit like him again where he might not get in if we play a flat 3 midfield next year (really hope we don’t and we stick with the 2 sitting and 2 behind the striker like last night)

Chair's a definate for me. Particularly if they go down and need to offload.

Buying the cream of the Champ is expensive for unproven talent. While Utd may got for 1 or 2, I'd expect the now more established scouting networks to deliver with most signings being players few of us have heard of - think more AAs than Callum Robinsons. A couple of frees and 2 top Prem loans and we'll be set.

I was going to say GK, #10 and a striker are the most important recruits but there are so many more that are required - 2 x GKs (assuming Davies leaves), 2 CBs (replacing Robinson and Clark), 2 LWBs (replacing Stevens and hopefully Lowe) 2-3 CMs (replacing Fleck and Doyle), 2 #10s (replacing McAtee + cover), 2-3 strikers (replacing Brewster, Jebbison and Osula who I expect to go out on loan and Sharp who won't play even if he stays)
 
I think there are some options that jump out.

O'Brien and Toffolo from Forest (if they get relegated)
see if they'd loan us MGW for the year (if they're desperate to keep him but he wants to stay in the top flight, they might go for it)
Swift and maybe Wallace (I reckon Wallace can play of a striker. He's always impressed me and seems like a decent bloke) from WBA
You'd try and but Doyle but I think we shouldn't go above £10 million as a basic. He's had a great end to the season but much of it was patchy.

Philogene-Bidace looked good for Cardiff against us he’s on loan from Villa and is meant to be available this summer with Anderlecht and Union Berlin interested in him.
