take the emotion of the game out of it and he wasnt that bad. Pen is a pen all day long, anyone arguing that is ignorant to the game and its rules. If it was the other end and it wasnt given we'd be fuming.

I see Heckys point about no foul til 56th minute, but we never had the ball for more than 5 seconds before then! Hard to get a foul when in essence no one was tackling all game it was just very good organised shape defending from us and they just took the ball off us as soon as we had it.

Ref seemed to stamp out Anel / Haaland niggling each other which was good.

The Osula booking from where i sat looked harsh, have seen elsewhere he's apparently caught the lad with his arm, but not seen it back.

It looked a few times as though we could have had the odd foul but id say there were 50/50 calls and not particularly good looking 'dives' or attempts to win it, certainly not on the level Grealish / Silva can win free kicks easily.

As a City fan, I'm shouting for a pen. Harsh but that's the rule, you'll see the same decision every week in all leagues. If the Blades player crosses and the ball & strikes Dias' arm, your screaming for a pen, yes?
Course it's a pen
Harsh one but it's a pen
The rest of tgecrefereeeing decisions for that game were a fucking joke though

There were plenty of fouls committed on our players in those 56 minutes that he chose to ignore

He was giving them fouls for the merest hint of contact and booking players for absolutely fuck all
It's coached into their players to systematically dive and get as many opposition players booked as possible to take the wind out of the home team and fans sails
When you get a starstruck aussie cunt like we had on Saturday it invariably means the mountain you already had to climb is now policed by a guy trying to knock you off with a baseball bat every time you reach up

Maybe not punching the ball.

I saw pig fans complaining about Vaulks handball. This is basically the same. Let’s not be like them and let’s be honest with ourselves.

It’s a clear penalty…accidental put a clear penal

Behind his back? Players know the rules, it's on them to not fall foul of them.
I don't think it's physically possible to effect a sliding block with arms behind the back. The rule for handball is ridiculous at present in my opinion.

Genuine question, which of our bookings wasnt deserved? Osula i mentioned before but the others, from where i was sat (Kop) all looked like fair bookings. I agree wholeheartedly that they and others will systematically dive / create fouls, makes complete sense to do so. Baldock wasnt the same player after his booking (why he was left on as long as he was (plus he was shattered) was a bit beyond me, felt like his tiredness led to that first goal as it was a soft one to give away), he knew one more foul he was off.

We need to wise up and start behaving in the same manner

Don't think many are questioning the bookings yesterday other than the Osula one. For me it was the decisions such as the nudges in the back, committed by both teams, but only one was getting the decisions. Would like yesterday's half wit ref to explain that to us.

The alternative been, hand balls dont count if you throw yourself down and hope for the best?

I think they’re called goalkeepers??

The difference is, we wouldn't get one.
So United have never been awarded a pen in similar circumstances? We've,, had them given to us & against, I would say, watching maybe 6 games a week (sad, I know), in the main decisions seem fairly consistent, toughest one against us was probably Grealish in the final v United.

We got two penalties all of last season when we were one of the two best teams in the league (by some distance). I very much doubt we're going to be awarded very many this season when we're one of the smaller clubs, and with the evidence presented hitherto.

I was at the game Frank had a chat & a laugh with a couple of Blades in 'Spoons post match. They were not impressed with the refs performance so on returning home I rerun the game and honestly didn't think he got much wrong. Which were your top 3 fuck ups?

Osula getting booked for being fouled
Allowing Haaland to foul our players then get in his face claiming the opposite ( even speaking to our players about it )
Allowing your defenders to persistently foul our strikers but then awarding yours free kicks for much much less

And just basically being in awe of the elite footballers in blue shirts

We hardly had any penalties last season and had quite a few stone wallers turned down from memory, what makes you think this will change in this corrupt league?

Suppose it just gets down to what coloured specs your watching the game through then. I'll try to get a neutral view, there's a Wednesday fan goes in the pub,I'll ask him!

So what is the point?
The point is that the law, as it is currently written, leaves a lot of room for interpretation and that causes a lot of inconsistency.

For example why wasn't the Romero handlball a few weeks ago given when Egan's was? I agree with most of the sentiment on here that both should be handballs, but by the letter of the law you could easily argue Egan's should not have been (sliding, arm out to break the fall) and Romero's should have been (lunging, both arms out).

How can we have a law where even with VAR we can see calls going the wrong way. The law is of course bollocks and needs to be binned.

Saw "Ref watch" this morning, Dermot Gallagher explained Egan's arm was raised, therfore making his body bigger. They also highlighted Coufal, West Ham v Brighton. Similar situation but not given due to his arm being grounded. Fully in agreement with you regarding inconsistent decisions, VAR seems to raise as many questions as answers. All the best for the season.

They should have asked Dermot Gallagher to demonstrate a sliding tackle with his hands in his pockets. I think the problem is that those who make football rules don't understand that the natural position of hands varies in different situations. During a proper slide tackle the arms naturally goes out/up at some point, and the idea that the intent is to "make the body bigger" is a foolish assumption, especially with VAR.

First thing I thought was, where the fuck is Egan supposed to hide his arms ?

I seem to spend most of my time moaning about officials after games, but I am glad that I am not the only one who is just sick to the back teeth of it.

I could not believe what I was watching today and Foxy 's excellent post above about how the ref was poised with whistle in mouth every time City were on the attack, compared to practically ignoring everything against us, sums it up really.

The game is fucked. I will enjoy what I can about it when I can, but don't ever expect us to get anything in our favour in this league until such time that we become firmly established.

Talking to a Middlesbrough fan in Skeggy and a WBA fan on a trip to the Black Country Museum and mentioned numerous times on here.

The winner of the Championship should have the option to stay in that league and accept a financial package in return for giving a play-off club the PL place.

Bollocks of course, will never happen, but the fact that so many fans from solid working class cities are talking about it points to something stinking out the PL.

Personally I think its rife with corruption with Sky pulling the strings. I actually think we aren’t far from them having a veto on the rules if it helps the cash cows.

It's an interesting idea, I just worry that the enthusiasm from the fanbase would be very diminished if all we got at the end of a dominant Championship slog is a financial package. I suppose the trophy would help, but really we all want to see us at the top table. It's just a massive shame that it has been bent out of shape so badly.

Good point about how little of the ball we saw.

Looked to me a bit like when we were in lower divisions and Sharp would wind up opposition fans by buying yet another foul and then get away with nudging one of their players just lightly enough to not give a free kick away. Players like Grealish get away with diving because they're also genuinely good at drawing fouls. It was just another area of the game where Man City are better at it than we are.
