'Premier League corrupt as f**k'

I read a piece a while back in the Guardian about how EFL refs prepare for games.

It went into detail about how they study match footage so they know what to be looking for in certain scenarios in relation to particular players and when they are likely to foul/be fouled.

While this level of detail and preparation is laudable we are now at a stage where they are blowing for things they’ve anticipated that haven’t actually happened. They need to be coached out of this mentality and just give the decisions they see.

Perversely the amount of scrutiny refs get makes them worse.

There were plenty of fouls committed on our players in those 56 minutes that he chose to ignore

He was giving them fouls for the merest hint of contact and booking players for absolutely fuck all
It's coached into their players to systematically dive and get as many opposition players booked as possible to take the wind out of the home team and fans sails
When you get a starstruck aussie cunt like we had on Saturday it invariably means the mountain you already had to climb is now policed by a guy trying to knock you off with a baseball bat every time you reach up
Also booked Anel for dissent but how many of their players were booked for the same offence?

Talking to a Middlesbrough fan in Skeggy and a WBA fan on a trip to the Black Country Museum and mentioned numerous times on here.

The winner of the Championship should have the option to stay in that league and accept a financial package in return for giving a play-off club the PL place.

Bollocks of course, will never happen, but the fact that so many fans from solid working class cities are talking about it points to something stinking out the PL.

Personally I think its rife with corruption with Sky pulling the strings. I actually think we aren’t far from them having a veto on the rules if it helps the cash cows.
It's not too much of a stretch of the imagination to where we have a similar scenario to the above. A few Premier league clubs would love to have a closed shop . Perhaps the Premier and sky may go down that route in the future?

The Baldock foul on Grealish was naughty and unnecessary. I like how Baldock plays on the edge, but that occasion was OTT.

I was more disappointed when a minority of our small-minded fans applauded it.
Baldock was clearly OTT in that foul as you say. Immediately before it, however, he was himself clearly fouled and the ref waved play on. This directly contributed to his red mist challenge. Baldock should have done better, but so should the ref on that occasion.

Ref was appalling, up City's arse. Not changed since that 'Stevie Gerrard' penalty in 2006. In fact probably worse. Yes, it was a pen. Ref seemed more pissed off than anyone that City missed it. Gave them everything.
Will never ever forget that if a ref did that these days they would be sacked.

I have not seen a penalty given for intent to trip since it was pure corruption

If anybody could please explain why Osula was booked I'd really like to know. Also troare checked Ake 3ft in difference big CB falls over foul. When you see this it really does make u think WTF are we even in this league for.
I agree, it’s a horrendous league. The journey to get there is infinitely more fulfilling than being there.
What’s that film where the bloke gets invited by the lovely girl to a posh dinner party only to realise that it’s a contest to see who can bring the stupidest cunt*? That’s us.
*just remembered it was an episode of Citizen Smith. I’m that old!!

Man City surrounded the ref on various occasions bitching and moaning at him. This now a bookable offense
One player is permitted to talk to the ref. In other matches I've seen players routinely booked for this.

I think Souza, Baldock and Osula were on the end of fouls and he gave nothing, even if Osula apparently caught the player with his arm yet a lot of strikers use their arms to push defenders away from them as they get the ball.

So United have never been awarded a pen in similar circumstances? We've,, had them given to us & against, I would say, watching maybe 6 games a week (sad, I know), in the main decisions seem fairly consistent, toughest one against us was probably Grealish in the final v United.
When was Uniteds last penalty? When was the last penalty awarded like that one?
