Season has to finish, said it from the start of this that there’s far too much riding in this from a business point of view. I don’t care what other countries are doing but there’s no reason at all why the players cannot be quarantined from families for a period of weeks to get this done.

That’s life, and no different to our armed forces going away for months on end. Make their environment sterile....training and matches then days off all sterile for all players and essential coaching staff. Prior to matches, each player to be tested for the virus.
I know it will be hard, but they get paid a fair wage, and it’s for 6 weeks max!!

Until either a vaccine or a cure is found, the government will not allow large scale social gatherings. So a sensible prediction would be 20/21 season behind closed doors, and 21/22 with spectators. There is a serious fear of the second wave, coming back in the winter of '20

But as others have stated even behind closed doors games won’t work as once a player or official gets it that’s numerous clubs into isolation for two weeks.

What will stop the whole thing dead in it's tracks will be insurance for the players. I doubt that any insurance company will insure players to play in these games, or at least at a sum that is affordable. Also i would expect that the players will be asked to waive their club's legal responsibilities in case of infection. I don't know if everyone's seen the story about junior sambia, the 22yr montpellier midfielder, who is in an induced coma due to covid at the moment. That will scare a lot of players. The french FA were hoping for a 17th June restart, so we'll see if that effects things.

no PPE needed if they are quarantined correctly.
testing is paid for by football, not the govt and there are more than enough testing kits available for it to have no impact on testing in care homes etc.

However, Here’s the cold hard truth. It is impossible to safely and clinically manage the care of the elderly in a care home setting. Impossible. Harsh as the reality is there are too many care homes, too many underpaid, low skilled, low IQ working in that environment.

It’s shocking, but I’m afraid the government are well aware of the scale of the task should they wish to solve care homes infection. Think about it...we are unable to prevent spread in hospitals, only managing low levels of transmission. There’s usually 3/4 hospitals per city...how many care homes or similar....50..100?? maybe more!!

Not saying I agree with it, however this govt and any govt (labour or whoever) will have to have an eye on the economy as the lasting effects of having nothing left having blown hundreds of billions trying to solve the crisis will cause more deaths than this virus. So business will be back in 3 weeks...not all but some. There’s a reason why govt don’t want the true death figures released and its to allow them to “ethically” restart the country. In other words, lie to the country so that the majority who are happy to bury their heads in the sand and believe them can get on with it.

this is the first wave...there’s more to come.

in the meantime, one of the biggest businesses in the world will resume. Behind closed doors with the impression it’s perfectly safe to do so. There’s more to life than footy but it’s about so much more than 25 individuals running around a field

Good suggestion already on here is all games available free to existing season ticket holders and everyone else can buy each game or be given the option of a mini season ticket through Sky.

The advice we've had so far has been pretty much off the mark...and that's been short term.

How anything long term they come out with can be credible is anyone's guess.

When the nhs can cope and we have a new relaxed social distancing, why can’t football be played behind closed doors at Premier League level? The money generated can help the EFL through this next year and hopefully we’ll be ok with 5k crowds at lower level by 2021 meaning clubs can go back to some sort of normality.

I don’t see why that isn’t a possibility by June.

I'm sure I read this was the proposal because the infrastructure is already there for the matches not already selected for Sky and BT. I`m sure clubs have already thought about the logistics of it or they would not have suggested June to return. After all this was when the Euro's was planned so I dont think it would take much to get it all on TV. Also its not going to be football in 4-5 weeks its going to be training in about 3 weeks time which starts it all off. May 8th was quoted as the start of training even that requires some planning with staff etc.

Whether you like it or not there is a distinct lack of hope in the media its all drama and dire. Public need something to look forward to and if there is a glimmer of a chance something like this can be done safely to entertain the masses then lets do it.

Too many doom merchants saying the world will never be the same. It will be just take a bit longer to get back to it.

Perhaps rather than relying on schools and other organisations to produce it the government should step up and if the only way is to take the equipment currently being used and streamline the operation, whatever it takes to get the numbers up. And testing seriously? You get tested and your results are back in 24 hours during which time you did essential shopping and went to work, how accurate is that result now?
TLDR: Let football manage itself.

The British boxing board of control statement about how they would not sanction any fight until after the worst of the crises has past AND NHS staff have had a break is spot on. Obviously boxing needs tighter medical care in case anything goes wrong but I suspect premier league football is pretty intense too with its health and safety regulations these days.

My points were; PPE the government needs to step up and start producing the stuff, I know that sounds horribly like Socialism but amen. (What have we seen? 10k extra expenses for MPs). Why would football even need PPE, keep any vulnerable people out of harms way, anybody else that gets it, it's like a cold.
Does the NHS pick up the pieces? Do football clubs trust millions of pounds worth of assets with them, when they can afford the best around? I don't know, I wouldn't if I could afford the best to take care of my £20 million tool.
