Aren't the fixtures worked out to avoid clashing train swaps with other football fans and over congestion?

The fixture lists get complicated because there's so many considerations, yeah. If you just start with us then we can't play at home on the same day as the pigs, so our fixtures already can't be fully random. Then Man City and Man U need to alternate too, along with Liverpool and Everton, and the London clubs. You do things like this across all the divisions, with travel and policing considerations that go with that, and you end up with one team having a home game affecting the fixture list for one 100 miles away. Then within that they also set the Premier League so that they don't schedule more than two home or away games in a row, and so that the last two games of the season are one home and one away. Finally, they try to minimise travel around Christmas and New Year.

So yeah, they do a lot of shuffling.

Coventry does Make sense as Rotherham, Huddersfield & Hull are out on Location reasons, & Burnley was on at Easter Monday for similar reasons. so we wouldve been Lancashire or Midlands like Preston in 2021 . it why stoke played man utd many times on boxing day
