That’d be peak Wilder if true![]()
#BREXITBLADESIt's just predictable Wilder.
Why we can't play someone else I don't know.
Saxilby Athletic, Deeping Rangers, Bottesford Town and Gainsborough Trinity.
Why not ?Whilst not particularly exciting (Halifax aside, never been to The Shay) I guess the purpose of pre season games isn’t first and foremost to give the fans a jolly up.
We went to Valencia a couple of seasons back but there was no public game, which was a shame. There might still be something abroad to look forward to this pre-season as well as the local games. He also said we were going to Valencia. Not sure if just a training camp or if there's a match.
We've always played local teams pre-season, as many other clubs do. It makes sense to have a number of competitive matches close to home that fans can attend. We've done it under every manager in my lifetime. It's not another reason to have a dig at Wilder. It's just predictable Wilder.

Well it damn well should be.Whilst not particularly exciting (Halifax aside, never been to The Shay) I guess the purpose of pre season games isn’t first and foremost to give the fans a jolly up.
Well, Burton is in Staffordshire which gives things a slightly more cosmopolitan feelSouth Yorkshire and Derbyshire as per usual.
Sounds like there might be one overseas according to a reliable ‘Ker on here. Might be mileage in Valencia then?
If there was a public game in Valencia it would be fantastic. Top city for a night out and cheap too. And a chance to do the Mestalla tour before it closes. This is supposed to be the final season Valencia plays there.
I might surprise you here, but I agree with you.

What's wrong with the Blue Brazil??Anywhere in Scotland except Greenock Morton, cowdenbeath and Ayr please
Where’s that post?Sounds like there might be one overseas according to a reliable ‘Ker on here. Might be mileage in Valencia then?

I know it’s an “every little helps” type comment but if we are without parachute payments then jaunting off with around 50 folks to the continent must be a far greater cost than staying within a luxury coach journey.I might surprise you here, but I agree with you.
Is it a little underwhelming to hear we seem to be preparing a pre-season schedule akin to that of the last few years? I'd say so - I know they're only friendlies, and they are irrelevant as far as actual competition is concerned, but it's always interesting when we schedule friendlies that are off the beaten path. See for example when we played Inter Milan a few years ago at the Lane.
But that said, Wilder appears to have a preferred approach to pre-season, that largely involves staying close to home. Nothing wrong with that. As long as pre-season is used effectively to prepare the squad for the campaign ahead, I don't think it really matters who we play, or where we play them.
Nowt, great day out. I think tickets were £15 each and that included all you can eat chinese at the restaurant attached to the ground with 4 free pints, a free programme and a team sheet. Think there was 9 pubs in Cowdenbeath and we had a drink in them all some we visited twice. No doubt someone will correct me but I think it was Harry Maguires debut and he was probably MOM.What's wrong with the Blue Brazil??
