"In the League, they’ve scored two fewer goals than ourselves but have shipped eight more than we have and I would hope that as long as our international squad return fit and raring to go, we should be able to gather another three points with, say, a 2-0 scoreline.”
Fuck's sake! Get over yersens!
(And hope we nick Bradshaw off em in January.)
Acting like the Massives (of the Midlands).Hope a downfall is coming their way
He's not going to move to a lower positioned league club, with less ambition and stability at this point in his career........
I see nothing here but a defeat. We can't stop conceding and they can score. 3-1 walsall.
Think they'll batter us this weekend, 4-1.
James Shield The Star -
Meanwhile, those seemingly intent on rubbishing everything United do, peddling tired clichés and accusing them of “robbing a living” whenever they suffer a bad result, must decide if they want to help solve or become part of the problem.

Let's be the 12th man!!!![]()
Ah Mr Shield has jumped on the 'our fans are cunts' bandwagon I see.
I didn't realise 17,000 people paying their money and turning up every other Saturday could pose a football club such a massive problem.
Keep the booing up, it does wonders for the rest of us promotion challengers.
As for Bradshaw, yes he's excellent but hasn't scored much recently as he's a marked man. However, his workrate and clever movement is superb, so while he's occupying 2/3 defenders it leaves time and space for our other excellent midfielders (and defenders who also get forward) to take advantage of. We're far from a one man team. Unlike your impressive (on paper, once upon a time anyway) bunch of "individuals".
We're average at home so it could go any way. A lot depends on who scores first, if it's us, we usually go on to win. I think a 1-1 draw.
If anyones robbing a wage its James Shield, obviously hes not been this season and seen what shite weve had to endure
Oh dear.....
Barry blunt, please don't tell me you chose that name in an ironic fashion, or are you another barneyowl....
I stopped reading Shield long ago - he's watched this team decline over the last 7 or 8 years. Does he ever ask searching questions about this or is he just the clubs mouthpiece?

Despite your period of relative success - which I am sure won't last - I see your attendances are still shit.Keep the booing up, it does wonders for the rest of us promotion challengers.

Not how I read it. Doesn't actually say much really other than players are rated more highly by supporters after they've left than when they were there, a phenomenon he admits applies to all clubs, and that people who boo when we're 3-0 up are cunts. And, IMHO, they are.Ah Mr Shield has jumped on the 'our fans are cunts' bandwagon I see.

Did you copy and paste that from Porktalk?Despite your period of relative success - which I am sure won't last - I see your attendances are still shit.

But Nige ... why wouldn't they?I note in Adkins cliche ridden interview yesterday he was lauding Walsall for sticking with the manager.
My my my. How brittle must one's self-esteem be if you genuinely take objection at someone or other taking a stab at the fans? I read this type of reaction here all the time. Someone is critical of aspects of our support, and instantly lots of people jump up as if they have been personally offended. Very often it is people who themselves can be very forthright in their opinions in the "I pay my money so can say my piece any way I like" vein.
Well, well, well. The world isn't black and white. There doesn't always have to be easy dichotomies. And anyone offended by statements made by using group labels rather than direct reference needs to grow up and try to work out how the world works and how to live a happy life.
It is perfectly possible that Sheffield United has admirable, tremendous support that deserves medals, yet at the same time certain aspects of how that support behaves or reacts or turns is conducive to worsening performances on any given day. To point that out is neither blaming "the fans", nor is it excusing in any way the many many other failures at different levels of the club that have created a situation where many long suffering fans feel the need to lose patience. It is called analysis in a world where there rarely is mono-causality.
As a middle of the road supporter whose weekend is ruined by any defeat and who even mopes when we skank a few weak penalties at Fleetwood in the JPT, I can be accused of taking the game too seriously, too. I probably do. But deary me. Following the Blades is as personal to me as it gets. The "fans" is not me. I am one of them, but if there is criticism of our support, do I care? No. Why should I? If people wanna throw labels at me or question how I arrange my emotional world around the club, call me boring, a slasher or a clapper, be my guest.
I really don't get this almost jealous or hurt reaction many on here display at criticisms of the fans. I don't even care if the criticism is directly aimed at behaviours I engage in, although to be fair it rarely is, being as predominantly docile as I am...![]()
