FWIW it's unlikely we'd beat them at Wembley if they finished third as our only realistic route into the play offs is to sneak into 6th...at which point we'd beat them over the two legs in the semi final stage

Not sure where our chip is but it's certainly not on the shoulder - we're completely ambivalent towards them.

Perhaps the 500 Coventry fans on this forum can help me out.

My current assumption is that they're a club with no set rivals and they're just scatter gunning hate in the hope it sticks with someone and they get a Brighton v Palace type rivalry.

They try to hate everybody. There was a tweet a few years ago that asked "which club is obsessed with your club when you don't care about them". 90% of the comments were Coventry. They should become rivals with Hull. They're both desperate for a rival who cares about them

Think I said this when we last had a view from. I know 100% fuck all about them apart from that for some reason they hate us.

I think they're developing a Wednesday sized god complex over recent years but they're just a fixture in the calender for us as far as I'm concerned.

The views of a few people on a forum are not necessarily reflective of a fan base as a whole. Looking at this thread you'd think Sheffield United fans are all wankers but I'm sure that isn't true, the one I know is alright for example.

Judging by those comments they seem desperate for a rivalry. Nobody cares enough about them

I think it all stems from that fateful night in 2017 or whenever it was and they were protesting.

They seem to have created in their heads a rivalry and hatred to us since. And it's one of those one's too that will never give us any credit for how we play.
"Thuggery, one dimensional, scummy" etc. They also like our neighbours think they have some sort of illustrious history too. Albeit an FA cup win in 1987 but really that's it.
That coincided with their only stint in the top division between the late 60s and the early 2000s.

I'm not bothered about them. Obviously when we play them I am but otherwise I'm indifferent.

Hull City fans are a bit similar. Although that is more of a regional rivalry and of course they seem to have many a story about us knicking their scarves which always amuses me.

We don’t give a shit about their poxy club, never nave done, a boring nothing club made famous only for being football vagrants for years. One of their gripes is we didn’t kiss their arses and applaud when they tried to wreck the game by throwing tennis balls on the pitch. I was there. We might have had some sympathy for their cause if they hadn’t just thrown them on when we were attacking and held back when they went forward, so it was great to see Billy smash in a late winner. Our other ‘unforgivable’ act was to take Hamer and O’Hare off them and since then, they’ve forged an online alliance with the Pork which is quite apt really because Pigs apart, they’re the most deluded, tinpot club in the EFL.
