Pre-Match View From Bolton

I re-read it a few times. I think he thinks they were better last season when they had Clough or Ameobi.

I think he's referring to the game at the start of the season and saying that Clough and/or Ameobi were the difference. I still think the comments on the whole are a bit batshit mental though.

This wont be an easy game for us,although I expect to win by the odd goal.Could well be they fill the midfield and try to disrupt how we like to play.Even if this means trying to clog us off the pitch.Important we keep eleven men on the pitch and don't get drawn into anything.Set pieces will be their best chance of scoring so important we don't give silly free kicks away in dangerous positions.Going 1-0 to the Blades.
Agree with that ^^^ I fully expect them to give us a tough game, more so than Sunderland. However I would expect us to win by the odd goal.

Our league record against them at their place is woeful. We've won once in 69 years and that was 40 years ago !

Time for that to change.

"The only difference between us last season was a midfielder that no longer plays for us".

Astonishing ignorance of just how much better than them we were last season.

They had one player who I'd swap.

...and it will.

We had a shite record at Sunderland aswell, although that got put to bed quite stylishly on Saturday.

Records can mean something to some players and managers if they let them get into their heads, CW will not let records get into their heads unless it's good ones. ;)

Think this is one where we might look back and say 'how the fuck did we lose to them?' at the end of the season.

The obvious difference between us and BWFC is that we are a Championship club in every aspect and they are clearly not....

I was expecting a bit more than that after some of the spikey exchanges on the forums last season but they sound thoroughly depressed.

If Clayton was fit I would have us down to win comfortably, but he isn't and that combined with the weather forecast could even it up a bit.

I still think we will win but it might be tight.

“This lot have only won one championship away game in their last 5 seasons.
We should be getting something.”

There's manipulating stats to suit an agenda, and then there's desperation to clutch as many straws as possible....

I would wager Barcelona haven't won an away game in the Championship in their history either.

We should win this, but I have to say I worry when things seem too good. I can see a 0-0

Nice one Roy, I had every faith that you would still provide my favourite regular thread. Take a holiday now until the Norwich info on Friday. Have fun.

I hope we absolutely batter these twats just because of the hammering some of their cowards dished out last season, leaving an innocent bystander hospitalised if memory serves me right?

Cheers Roygbiv

Reckon this could be tougher than some are expecting. As has been said on here, we must stay disciplined and not give away free kicks in dangerous areas as that is their main strength - also from what I saw on the highlights of their game v Boro, that complete cunt Madine looked quite dangerous. Still think that we should have enough to get 3 points though.

First away game of the season for us - going to be tougher than Sunderland.

If they can't beat a fellow promoted team, at home, then they might as well just give up.

We played half our first team in the cup last year and we just didn't stand up to them with balls into the box - think we will be much better prepared tomorrow.

1 nil Blades and 8 bookings - think it will be a bit tasty.

Billy Davies....just a fat lad from Sheffield, hat trick at Notlob tomorrow night!

Take a point tomorrow followed by 3 Saturday. Keeps in the melting pot.
Last season I might, only might've agreed with you but I see us as a far superior team to them in every aspect so we really ought to be putting these to the sword and coming away with the win. Now I know football doesn't always work like that but I wouldn't take a point now as the situation stands.

Not exactly the brains of the outfit are some of their posters are they , I'm not taking them for granted as they are a dangerous set piece team and there's room for some improvement in defending them ( conceded 3 to date ) and Blackman will need command the area tomorrow .
I hope we can turn out same side as Sat but without seeing any of the reports I'm assuming Donaldson is out with the hamstring either that or Wilder has contacted Glenn Hoddle about a faith healer ?
I hope we turn in the same dominating performance we did against them at the lane ... cue Billy .. Sharp that is .. its set up nicely for you pal .

if im honest i didnt realise til yesterday that we had a game tomorrow. i am apprehensive about this game because v derby & sunderland we had nothing to lose. we should win this considering who Middlesbrough hammered them 3-0. apparently lucky to get away with 3-0 v derby as couldve been 5/6. also i remember battering them, hitting every part of goalposts. 1st game last august & losing 1-0

We didn't batter them at all in the first game last season. We barely looked like scoring for most of the match and neither did they til Spearing smashed that shot in.

Thankfully for us Wilder changed the team and sacked off the likes of Hussey.

We should beat these, but at the weekend Parkinson looked ahead to this match and said that Bolton were in a mini-league with us, and presumably the likes of Millwall, Burton etc.

The actual league table makes a mockery of this statement but given that they're obviously looking at this one like some sort of cup final it may be tougher than we anticipate. They'll be physical and well up for it. Still think we'll have enough to beat them, mind, but I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up as a stalemate or we contrive to balls up every chance in front of goal and suffer a shock defeat.
Obviously hope i'm wrong, the good thing is we have a manager who never takes any opponent lightly, and I suspect is not a fan of this particular club continuing on from last season, so may see this as an opportunity to put them to the sword.
