Pre-Match View From Bolton

Potential banana skin this game. They've not won yet and will see us as an equal side having beat them to the automatic spot by 14 points. Play like we did against Sunderland and I think we should be ok.

C'mon Blades, let's play smart and get the job done.

I think some people including your good self are blurring those first four games into one, if you get the chance to watch the game again we were by far the better team in that game and most of the Bolton fans at the time were in agreement. Admittedly, we didn't create loads of chances but we were the better side that day.

I think some forget just how shit we were til we got our act together. That match ranks as one of the worst I've seen. I thought football was about creating chances? We created next to none apart from the first few minutes when Clarke should have scored. Other than that the game passes us by.

The second half wasn't as good and the next three matches were shite but in the context of the Bolton game we'll have to agree to disagree.

You can look the better side in a game without creating much by the way. Question in point being Middlesbrough against us in that first half, some thought we got outplayed there and I agree in the first half but I can't remember Blackman pulling a save off.

At the start of this weekend , I would have taken 4 points from our 2 away games .
We where excellent away on satdi , so let's hope we can keep it up .
I don't like some of these comments that are creeping into the posts ,
It's getting to sound piggish , if we start thinking where better than we are , we'll come unstuck .
Let's keep feet on the ground lads , if we think all we have to do is rock up we'll get fucked .
We've done nowt yet , playing well I agree ( playing very well ) , but let's not start going on
like them deluded cunts up the road in south Barnsley .
Tinpot this , pub league that , respect the opposition ,
do the job on the pitch and we should beat them I agree .

Bolton is exactly the type of game we could lose coming off the back of a good result. It would be typical United.
If concentration levels drop or we become complacent we will get beat

These are the games that Wilder will earn his money, making sure the players are 100% on their game and fully motivated.

Motivation hasn't been a problem so far but if even a slight bit of complacency creeps in because Bolton are struggling, we'll have problems

"Typical United"??? Not under Wilder and Knill it isn't.

Typical United these days is showing every opponent respect and the team working their bollocks off every game, regardless who it's against.

Hope this isn't a whoosh moment but is this real or a wind up? I've got a mate in Italy who's a massive AC Milan fan and would love to share details of this with him!
Not a wind up. We played them in our South America tour. Will get the details when I get home. I think the key AC Milan players were with the Italy World Cup squad at the time

“This lot have only won one championship away game in their last 5 seasons.
We should be getting something.”

Sounds like something you'd expect to hear from The Massive.

'How about 4-4-1-1 and hope we can take advantage of their relative weakness in both boxes?"

WTF is this numpty on?

That "relative weakness" that has got us in the top 6, whilst they are where again?

No idea what he is on mate, but I think he needs to up his dosage because it isn't working.

Don't like Bolton .....nasty little club with fans to match
That's a bit of a generalisation me owd. SOME of them maybe but the vast majority would welcome you into their pub and be very humble about their team. Including my missus and her mates.;) Having lived their for several years I might just have the edge on that kind of knowledge and can speak from experience.
A scattering of gobshite numpties never has and never will represent the majority.Just like at at "The Lane"

Oh and that nasty little club gave me and fellow students access to make a Documentary for a Uni project, plus free tickets for the Press box and fed us too.And John McGinley ,Joe Riley and Fabrice Muamba offered their time gladly and epitomise a Family Club that does much for its community.

Whatever your negative first-hand experience, I would suggest you might like to be a little less judgmental without the full story.:)

I felt we were the better side and certainly didn't deserve to lose. Shoutbox was in meltdown and afterwards, I posted something positive about the decent passing football we'd played and LS26BLADE accused me of being on drugs :-) I thought that considering the new players Wilder had brought in, it was a decent showing.

The main chance I remember is the one you refer to, Clarke's free header and a terrible miss, and of course doesn't count as on target, but it was a good chance. If that was one of the worst games you've ever seen, I can only think you weren't at Bury the season before.

This is a potential banana skin but we've been quite good at avoiding them for the past year so I'm still quite confident.

Noteable that us and the pigs are both playing the only sides in the division without a win on the board so far this year. Let's hope one of them goes :)

It was poor in that we ran out of ideas against an average Bolton team. Plus their ground is fucking shite which doesn't help.

I think the one thing we can say with certainty is the Wilder and Knill will have the guys fired up and ready to play and it would be the same if it was to play any game, be it Brazil or Crawley Town :)

Batten down the hatches, with forecast winds over 25mph and greater than 95% chance of heavy rain throughout the match it's gonna be interesting.

We also lost 3 nil at home to Southend in that small run of games.

It's not really a barometer of our quality is it?
