So nowts changed then. Still do transfers at a snails pace no matter who owns the club.
Bit harsh when its not necessarily the clubs fault.

Unfair criticism if you ask me!
Yeah agree.

What is encouraging is targetting 4 or 5 players which is what majority hoped for.
They all want to come here.

The stumbling block is the selling/loaning clubs causing the delays.

I thought about this and do think seriously. We moan other clubs can get players through the door. Probably yeah they either pay over the odds, have the money to throw at them or are in a better situation.

We've always had to be cagey with money hence the delay. We have classic examples of what happens when we throw money at players (mentioning no names)

Slowly, slowly catchy soft cuddly fluffy toy

(apparently original proverb is not PC so I changed it)

Thanks Cappy for overview

He had the right the be confident by the sounds of it with 2 loan deals verbally agreed barring the final formalities.

How was he to know that Southampton would then move the goalposts on a previous verbal agreement and that dynamic changes and injuries at Leicester would lead to Van Nistelrooy reconsidering his own player options.

Nothing is clear cut in the modern world of football and you can’t count your chickens. However in Wilder’s defence the only stumbling blocks that he could foresee would have been medicals and he had great confidence that they wouldn’t be a problem.

I don’t know whether to be embarrassed or sympathise with the lack of understanding towards modern day football that some people have. I would hate to be a tradesman working on their home or something like that, it would be hell I’m sure!
Don’t patronise mate….

I understand and I also understand the hold em rule in business

Dot say anything to anyone until it’s sign , sealed delivered otherwise if it goes south (which business deals tend to) you look like a mug and piss people off

And then people like yourself would sit moaning that there hasn’t been a single rumour come out from anywhere and we should be linked to or talking to players.

The club can’t win either way can they?

Wilder and Sheffield United F.C had verbal agreements in place and were led to believe that they were a formality. The players themselves have stated their own preferences to join us as well, literally everything was aligned and it is no fault of Wilder’s or the clubs that we are still trying to bash out deals.

I like the transparency from the club to be fair because it gives people a bigger insight into the challenges faced during tight transfer windows if you don’t have bungs of cash to chuck around the place.

I think the only ones being patronised are the club by you.

So, all the players aren't back for Norwich and no new signings will be in for Norwich?

Normal service very much continues. They need a course in expectation management.

Full audio-only of the first part of the press conference with Giddins, which does cover all the interesting items

I did notice that CW seems quite relaxed, almost like he is trying to hold back a smile or two, I think he must know that a couple of players are more or less over the line, all bar the final detail (and the devil is in the detail, as we know).

So nowts changed then. Still do transfers at a snails pace no matter who owns the club.
Nowts changed. Still the same old fucking whingeing. Have you paid any attention to what CW actually said? Are you aware of how few transfers have been completed by anyone so far in this window, and why that is?

No soz. Did pay attention tho when we'd have some through the door for Norwich tho 😂

It's really frustrating but I suppose it depends on how desperate we are to go up this season. If we don't get anyone in until deadline day then that's 4 games with the paper thin squad likely to drop points. That might be enough to see us miss out on autos.

On the other hand, if we are thinking more long term then being patient is the best thing to do. Asking the current squad to go again for another 4 games is a big ask but paying over the odds or going for secondary targets will harm us long term.
One centre forward with a hernia and one coming back from a month or so off then weak backup options behind that of Ryan One and Brewster.

A centre back partnership who look completely at odds playing alongside each other with options of Gilchrist or RND to replace them.

That’s what will be our undoing if it carries on until the end of the month.

A few headlines. Had to do it on my phone due to work getting in the way and being out and about, so less waffle this time…

Injuries
  • Shacks foot injured and not recovered as well as hoped. He’s out for a few more weeks
  • Moore needs a hernia op. He will have that when we have cover. It’ll only put him out 2-3 weeks once he has it
  • Vini maybe Sat but defo Swansea/Hull
  • JRS maybe Sat but defo Swansea/Hull
  • Femi in for Saturday
  • Campbell in for Saturday

JTW
  • No new signings will be in for Saturday
  • We have bid for Tom Cannon
  • Confident all number 1 transfer targets will get through the door
  • Need to go through the negotiation process as we will not be wreckless, financially
  • We are in the market for 1 or 2 permanent deals plus 3 loans
  • All the players we want are 100% onboard with coming here
  • We respect that the parent clubs want the best deals, and there’s no rush for them to get it done. “Poker”
  • We have contingency plans and those contingency players want to come to the club, too

General
  • Regarding getting disciplinary fines, “we need to rein it in a little bit, but not too much... I don’t want to take the fight out of the dog… We’re not going to get bullied by anyone”
  • We will have a couple back for the weekend but will still be stretched and need the fans’ support and understanding at the lane
  • Looks like the analytical services we’ve bought will show dividends with signings from abroad in the medium and long term, but for this window, we will have players we know don’t need to adapt to the league or culture

On a side note, he was looking quite fresh faced and healthy. Good on him

I think CW fully understands all this

To be fair it's personal choice to feel pissed off.

Maybe the unrealistic expectations of fans need adjusting🤔

I struggle personally to empathise with some poster's views on here when the club gets unfairly criticised for events they have little control over.

It's already a money driven divisive world which football mirrors perfectly.

Nothing we fret over makes one iota of difference despite our loyalties as fans.
I imagine you already know all that🙏

I can imagine the only piss affected is Wilder's boiling👍
