A third into the season I think we can see who are our absolute key men, as much of a team effort it is what we’re doing.

I’d be interested to see who, as it stands, people think our best player has been this season. Holy trinity? Leon? Brooks? JOC? And interested to how this changes throughout the season.

Pre Pigs game I think it would’ve definitely been Coutts but I suspect a certain number 9 might have something to say about that now.

I wish they could all get it if I’m honest, they deserve it.

I wanted to vote Billy Sharp since he'll obviously be completely ignored on here.

But truthfully? It's Duffy, who has not only stepped up in this division but is actually better than last season. He's been the beating heart of everything and I get a semi on whenever he makes a run.

To be fair mate he wasn’t ignored last year, and I’m inclined to agree with Duffy but since the pigs game Clarke has taken us to another level for me.

Thought Billy did well yesterday considering he only touched the ball about three times

Recognition of Billy has been muted. They slag him off quickly enough though.

Hasn’t Billy won POTY two years running? Hardly been overlooked. He’s been good this season but there are others who have performed to a higher standard, Coutts, Fleck, Duffy and Leon.

I wouldn't say Billy is our best player because he isn't, but has been by far our most important. Not only have his goals put us where we are, he is a true leader on the field.

Duffy. Easily. The bloke is a pleasure to watch. When people use the term 'proper footballer' Duffy is the epitome of that.

Not sure why Brooks would be a front runner.

First half a dozen games it was Coutts for me but since then Duffy has been electric. How he has never been given a chance at this level before is beyond me.

To be honest though you could pick any of from around 9 players and I wouldn't challenge it to much.

So truthfully you haven’t voted for Sharp yourself but you’d be annoyed if others also didn’t vote for Sharp?

Duffy for me too. Although Coutts, Fleck and Clarke not far behind. Indeed O'Connell, Stevens and Basham all been very good too.

For once we have a lot of genuine contenders but based on the more recent games Duffy has been amazing.
You would swear he’s dropped down from a good career in the PL. The guy is pure class, a poor mans David Silva.
Quite incredible to think he’s been a lower league journeyman most of his career. What has he been doing in the past?

Duffy has been tremendous and deservedly leads the field.

Many many others not far behind him.

Yeah I wanted to get him on the board at least. But it would also be dishonest.

I'm a conflicted man, that is a cross I must bear.

So to answer my second question. You say that ‘they’ are quick to slag him off. I’m just wondering who ‘they’ are?

Wilder should make himself player manager and sub himself on for the last minute of a game. He'd get my vote.

Members of this forum. One less than stellar performance and it's "he doesn't do anything" and "he's found his level" blah blah blah. There was even a negative thread this week specifically about him.

Can you provide any specific examples? What was the negative thread? The Peschisolido one?
