If we sign a midfielder I'd put Basham there and he should be able to do a good job, but I'd expect us to look for a replacement so with that in mind who could we go for?

Few names for starters...

Paul Caddis - Birmingham
Jordan Clarke - Scunthorpe
Conor McLaughlin - Fleetwood
Nathan Byrne - Wolves
Lawrie Wilson - Bolton
Donervon Daniels - Wigan
Reece Wabara - unattached

Surely plenty of young PL players available for loan too.

I want Wabara, through no other reason than liking his Surname.

I think Brayford will be on his way to join Daddy Nigel but if not I'd like to see us do a part exchange deal with Wigan with Donervon Daniels and Morsy coming our way.

Daniels isn't wanted there anymore, they're clearly looking for a new right back and when they sign one I'm sure they'll be wiling to offload him. He's not a Championship level player IMO, but effective in L1. He's big and athletic which is a major plus and a bonus. He's ungainly but effective going forward too. More attainable than most of the others I'd say.

Who was the Shrewsbury RB who was very impressive a couple of years ago. I'm sure he got a big move somewhere?

Oh. He only played in their cup game the other week.

Everything I said still applies though, they'll be willing to let him go.

Wabara is a right back who can play left back.

I'm surprised Wabara is still unattached, would be the pick of those named earlier in the thread in my opinion.

Wabara seems like a good shout.

Ryan Taylor is still unattached after not being offered a return to Wigan. I know he's no spring chicken, and I also know he doesn't fit our new signing 'ethos'. Heavily experienced and a mean set-piece taker. We've clearly shown we aren't in for young exiting players.......

Some good names in there Ricky. I would prefer Wabara or McLaughlin personally, though I suspect there's a reason why Wavara has been unattached for so long.

Can't say I remember much of Jordan Clarke if I've seen him, what's your report on him?

Tall, athletic right back with quite a lot of appearances under his belt, mostly in L1, good age at 24. So the right sort of profile, but I've not seen enough of him to give more detail, he's just a name I've seen thrown about and he seems to have been doing well at Scunthorpe. One year left on his contract so would probably be attainable now.

McLaughlin and Wilson also only have one year left so they should be gettable too. Wilson doesn't seem to be first choice at Bolton, Lewis Buxton looks to be first choice RB, and he won't play on the wing all season like he did against us, surely.

I take it that's the same Wilson who made his name at Stevenage? Never rated him if I'm honest.

Yep. Quite a strong and energetic player who gets forward well. Maybe more of a wing back. Would be an improvement on the Brayford we've seen for the last 18 months.

McLaughlin or Wabara for me. Would certainly give Basham a try there aswell when we bring another centre mid in

Thought he looked good when we played Stevenage in the playoffs a few years back. Not seen much of him since then,

On the subject of new full backs, Coker at Southend has always looked a very good Left Back at this level. (Not just saying that from Tuesday night, i remember being impressed by him last season) Decent free kick taker too.

Not sure he'd want to join after what he saw on tuesday (although he'd know he'd get straight in the first team), He's a good player and would definitely improve us, remember him being very good in L2 with them and looks good enough in this league.

Shame he's a LB and not RB. Impressed me last two seasons.
