Bit of a punt but Freddie Sears at Ipswich?

Always liked the look of his overall ability but feel he could offer more goals. I think the right manager and team would get that out of him. If cheap enough might be worth a look.

NOOOOOOOO. Just a personal opinion

Siriki Dembele a winger/striker for Grimsby has handed in a transfer request. I'm sure we have looked at him in the past, could he be someone we have an eye on this year?

It's a well known fact that if your name is Dembele you are shit hot, possibly french, young, pacey and a 20 goal a season striker. The same rule also applies to players called Traore or if you have a double barreled surname. These rules can also stack up for added bonuses if they are combined in any way.

Whilst we should keep an eye out for any players with the surname Dembele-Traore or force someone to legally change their child's last name to this, Wilder should sign this lad up to tide us over in the meantime.

Kenneth Omeruo - Another Chelsea player. Nigerian centre back who can play right back. About 6 foot 1, athletic and good on the ball. Has been on loan in Turkey for the last 3 seasons, most recently with Kasimpasa, who finished 8th. He's 24 now so Chelsea will surely look to move him on, but maybe they'd loan him again.

I've always fancied the idea of signing Omar Bogle since his Grimsby days. With the right manager think he could be a top championship striker and still only 24. Shouldn't be too expensive to be fair.

An interesting, now somewhat left field shout. He'll certainly be available from Cardiff who can't even expect to recoup the £1m they paid, and in all honesty probably won't even care.

He does have the attributes on paper. But does he have the mentality? He did nothing at Peterborough, surprisingly. I thought him and Marriott would probably fire them to promotion or at least the top 6.

As you say, the right manager could make a big difference with him so for about 500k wouldn't be the worst punt.

I think the smartest thing to do with him (for any team not just us) would be a 500-600k bid and, if accepted, offer him a 1-year contract with average wages but with performance related bonuses and the option to extend the contract.

Potential big risk but something tells me he has still got "it."

That's not actually a bad shout. He only played a very small part for Cardiff last season (10 games total) but managed 3 goals which is decent considering that in those 10 games he only started 4 and came on as a late sub in 6. Less said about his stint at Peterborough the better but it shows there's potentially a good player in there if he gets a decent run of games and the right manager.

I reckon Wilder is going to be in the market for one established championship striker as a safe bet and one calculated punt (knowing that we still have Leon and Billy as good first choice options if they turn out to be flops) in order to keep costs down. I'd be happy to take him as our punt if he's available for the right price.

No point spending that sort of money and only giving a player a one year deal. We'd be better off with a loan deal (fee c£200k) with an option to buy.

Should we fail with getting Jamal Blackman in, might it be an idea to exploit Villa's current situation and go for Mark Bunn?

Good 'keeper, experienced at 33 but not getting any younger either, might want some first-team footy before time is up, knows the club from his previous time here...

We could do much worse.

We could do worse but I still have nightmares of every shot along the floor finding the corner as he didn't get down quick enough

Nadir Çiftçi - Turkish striker just released by Celtic. Can play as a second striker or on either flank. Could be a useful cheap addition.

"Useful cheap addition". When are you and those advocating a move for Bogle going to learn. It has to be quality not quantity if we are going to kick on from last season.

Chris Wilder identifies the next John Fleck (i.e. on a free from the lower leagues). Chipsncake isn't happy because he's a 'cheap option'.

When are you going to learn that it doesn't matter how much a player costs, it's how well they fit into our team.

Apparently Marcus Edwards at Spurs is looking for a move this summer, having lost hope of breaking into the first team. He had a bit of a nightmare on loan at Norwich last year but is highly rated and only 19. Unless Brooks ends up leaving I don't think we need another player in this position, but might be worth considering.

Yep, it's not where they've come from, it's where they're going, that counts.

Exactly so now CW has a bigger player pool he can chose from. It can only be beneficial. If we had very little money the player pool is small now we have investment player pool is bigger hence allowing CW to sign the players he wants. Some may be mega expensive some may be cheap but more money allows us to bring in better players, or at least the players CW wants.

And you really think Wilder will be interested in the likes of Citftci, Bogle and Akinde? I think you'll find that since signing his new contract he has upped the anti when it comes to future signings.

Did I say he was or would be?

Anyone that's ever kicked a ball has a chance.

How about The Barnet Striker Akinde, always banged goals in

Has it? We haven't signed anyone since he signed his new deal. I agree that we will have a larger budget but we wont be buying 3, 4 or 5 players all worth £2m+. We have transfer listed/released/sent back 4 strikers. He may be looking for 1 starting striker to go along side Sharp/Clarke and a backup/gamble striker to make 5 at the club.

Well the Possible Summer Targets thread has surpassed the 446 post total of the last one with a long way yet to go.

This, indeed, is a pleasing development.

Long live the Possible Summer Targets thread, and long may we continue discussing Possible Summer Targets, disagreeing about the merit of Possible Summer Targets and patting each other on the back when we think of good Possible Summer Targets, all while Wilder and co are finalising their decisions on moves for Possible Summer Targets, surely influenced by suggestions on the Possible Summer Targets thread.

Murray Wallace (CB/Scunthorpe)

Solid CB, has been a key player for Scunny over past 3 seasons and is very highly rated by there supporters. Reportedly linked with a few championship clubs so I reckon we might be linked with him. Seems the "Wilder type" centre half in terms of age/versatile (can also operate at LB) and is decent on the ball for a CB. I reckon he would be good competition for Jack'O at LCB. They would reportedly accept an offer in the 500k region. Cheap option and worth the punt in my opinion.

However, seems that Jack Robinson who we have been linked with at QPR will be leaving them for free this summer after refusing to accept a new contract which expires end of this month, he would be the better option if we could bring him him.

Jerome Sinclair - His thread being bumped and the likely bullshit rumour reminded me. Would we take him after that nonsense with the loan move collapse? I'd have no problem with him, and there aren't many about with his pace, trickery and goalscoring potential. But I really wouldn't want to deal with his slimy, greedy cunt of an agent.
