Granted, as per back end of last season, we again appear to lack creativity in the middle and the final third, and organisation at the back. Hopefully bedding in a new CH, plus Woodburn, plus (maybe) Man City guy in Enda’s role, plus (hopefully) other signings to come, will help us tackle these.

But there were some positives.

Henderson.
Excellent goal in build up and execution.
Fleck in first half.
McGoldrick and Leon press really well as a pair, high up the pitch.
We started with real tempo.
We look really fit, for the most part.
Billy, briefly, made a difference.

Plenty negatives to dwell on from today. But it’s one game. And we generally lose the first one anyway. Other clubs with great expectations have started poorly this afternoon. Let’s take the positives and move on.

It was very much like the Brentford game at the beginning of last season but nowt fell for them where it did for Swansea today.

Yep. Agree with that. I thought we were lucky to win the Brentford game. And, just before Swansea went 1-2 up today, I said I thought we’d be lucky to get a point from this one. They could easily have been a couple of goals ahead at 1-1.

Equally though at 0-0 They seemed determined to gift us the points
They put us clean through twice before we scored and a decent side would have scored and then gone on to annihilate them

That would be one way of reading it. Another way would be to say that our goal had been coming for 10 minutes or so, and eventually we got it.

But, sure, we were an error-prone side riddled with flaws today. Swansea were decent, though?

And it’s not like we lost at Wigan ...

Since Fulham at the lane last season every team that has come to the lane has set up the same way

So have we

Wrong person wrong time constantly with United. Billy would've buried that one that fell to McGoldrick, McGoldrick would have buried that volley that Clarke had.

At least when it fell to a wingback in the box he scored it this time.

And even Monty would have scored the one that lundstram miskicked towards st Mary's church

Thought the crowd was a positive. Seemed properly loud today at times on the South which is quieter in general where I sit.

They won't be much longer though if they have to watch performances like that.

Maybe I was at another game but until we'd scored, they didn't even look like scoring. They seemed to sense they could get something from the game once Henderson tipped that header over.

If either McGoldrick or Lundstram had taken what were both very good chances, I think we'd have won the game and the forum would look very different.

Fine margins and massive knee jerk reactions after one game.

If you think that Lunny and McGoldrick missing those chances were the only issues with our performance then you were watching a different game to me.

The big positive for me from that game was Henderson. I thought he looked excellent when relied upon. I recall at least 2 superb saves he made (one of them which did lead to their second goal unfortunately). My only concern with him will be from corners / set pieces. He is a little on the short side for a goalkeeper and I fear more physical teams will attempt to take advantage of that this season. All in all though, impressed with him in his first competitive game in a blades shirt. Hopefully the 3 in front of him will provide him with a bit more security the further we go into the season!

I don't think they were the only issues, however I've no doubt that I will have seen the game differently to you.
