20 games into our La Liga return and despite a recent wobble in both form & results, we are:-
  • 4th in the Division
  • 10 points & 8 places clear of that shower
  • 5 points clear of 7th place
  • Averaging 1.85 points per game - keep that up = 85 for the season
Before the Brentford game, if someone had told me that I’d have chuckled at their optimism. Yet we’ve played some great football & totally deserve to be where we are.

We’ve had more bad luck than good - what with injuries & incidents - and are currently struggling to find form without 2 key players in Coutts & Baldock/Freeman which has upset things.

Plenty to be positive about though:-
  • Baldock’s imminent return will balance up the side & release other options
  • Lundstram seems to be improving from what I’ve seen & heard
  • Our position will make us look attractive in the Jan window to those we target. “Build it & they will come”
  • We’ve got Wilder & Knill to sort things out
  • We’re not wendy
Positive & realistic thinking is needed all round then. The season still holds much promise & we’ll get our mojo back soon enough. Top 6 is definitely do-able & whilst Top 2 is still possible, playing in & winning the fabled “richest football match in the world” isn’t a bad option.

I’m planning on us having a Merry Old Christmas but most importantly a very Happy & Prosperous New Year.

And the same from me to all you lot!

UTB’s !!

p.s. Get well soon Paulio Couttsio
