Tonight was a strange one we could and should have had 3 or 4 goals and didn't get out of second gear for most of the game.

I think we are a team that is just finding it's feet and getting used to playing together.

We look defensively solid now after the second half collapse against QPR.

I think the the true mark of a good side is when you are not playing that well and still nicking the games by the odd goal and that Is what we keep doing and there is some real positive and It is great to see the lade geling so well as a team.

I think If we can strengthen our forward line top two has to be the priority.

It’s a very new squad and it’s a squad without a great deal of experience. There also doesn’t seem to be many natural leaders yet, these may emerge as the players settle in to the club. I hope so because I think this will help in games where we start slowly or if key individual players are not able to affect games.

All that is to say that while we still have a (thin) squad of very talented players, I don’t think it’s a fully functioning team yet.

To get the results we have so far is a credit to all involved, but I’m hopeful that there is far more to come as the players grow as a squad and as a team.

I agree it's a new squad but to say it hasnt a deal of experience is a bit of a stretch the spine has experience, Anel Soutarr and Moore have about 100 international caps between them, all have played premier league 2 of them have played in international tournaments and the other has played in champions league , cooper played in excess of 150 games so too burrows , hamer and o hare, and id imagine souza has well over 100 appearances under his belt too ,so that's a decent amount of experience, throw in Brewster and Campbell from the bench and if we cant find a leader we are never going to

I agree, last night was a bit strange.
We looked pretty hopeless at times, unable to get the ball back from the big boys, yet, if we'd have taken the very good chances, we'd have mullered them and been saying what a top job we did on them.
To be fair, although disappointing to concede so much possession, we DID do a top job on them with great defending and patience that eventually lead to the great chances and, of course, another 3 points.

While it would be great to be expansive, good teams build from a solid defensive foundation, and that's exactly what we have. Onward and upwards.
