Wow.

I didn’t see that coming.

What a pleasure it was to watch that game.

Two superb debuts, good performances all over the pitch, and lots of positive attacking intent from a team who gained in confidence throughout.

Well done to the players and the manager. More of this please!

No point in re litigating the past 18 months but that shows what we can do with some attacking flair and creativity. We would have made a better fist of staying in the PL with a couple of signings like that.

we’ve finally given Slav some of the tools to get us performing. Hope the players buy in and keep it going.

Plus, we’ve got good players

Davies
Olsen
Berge
Hourihain

to add into that first 11!!!

I know it’s ‘only’ Peterborough. But that’s what we wanted to see. That’s what we’ve been wanting to see for nearly 18 months.

There'll be a few well known posters missing tonight too.

Anstonblade1 always goes into hiding for a few days when we score or win
but he’s a regular constantly slagging off the club, always predicts failure at everything we try to do.

He was last seen on todays match thread, slagging off the managers team selection predicting another defeat.
Then as soon as we score the first goal…he disappears……wonder why?

Yes was fantastic today, Gibbs White and Ndiaye a breath of fresh air. Billy, Ozzie and Fleck superb also.
Thanks to Posh for making it an open game, their lack of press really helped us. Oh and both teams leaving 2 attackers up at corners, highly unusual these days.

It was a joy to watch again. Been far too long since I was able to say that.

Result was brilliant, but even if the result wasn't so good we should always look to attack the opposition. Last 18 months we have just shit a brick before kick off created nothing and meekly accepted our fate under pathetic football.

Welcome back Blades. Missed you.

Has the Slav penny dropped? A performance we hoped for, pace; options and a bit of flair. Almost on par with the Villa performance. Let’s hope it’s the first of many. UTB

Probably the best we have played since that Villa game

Have to admit I was troubled by the team selection, benched Bash?!!?!!
Defence looked shaky even when we attacked. But we attacked. Could have been 11 - 5.

I must admit thinking WTF when I saw the line up so what do I know? A lot said we couldn't play a back four but apart from one C3P0 moment they did ok against a Peterborough side which will score goal at this level. What a difference a bit of energy and movement up front and in midfield makes even the old John Fleck made a comeback today.

You watched a different game to me. How many chances did Peterborough have?
Our left side defensively. One particularly, 2nd half Fodders saved a poor shot where a square pass would have found two Peterborough players in good positions.
Up to 3 - 1 they were steady, lost shape after that.

One goal from a defensive mistake and a penalty. Nothing else of merit.

You’ve got to hope the rest of the team up their game... Now they’re playing at the side of real quality.

It was noticeable that Slav kept telling players to pass forward, even in the last few minutes. A couple of times he had a go at Baldock for going backwards. Once when he was about to throw it backwards, once after he went on that 15 yard run back along the touchline.

Wonder if it’s any coincidence that this performance occurred after Slavs actually had some time on the training ground with the lads (or most of them) due to the international break.

we know preseason was basically reduced by 10 days (c30%) due to having to quarantine - so it’s essentially the first chance he’s had in ages to actually get his message across for a little while without having to worry about a match in a couple of days.

Felt like it was the first time I could see Slav’s plan, which looked to me like 4-4-2, but when we get possession push the wide midfield players right up onto their full-backs so it looks more like 4-2-4. I don’t know much about formations and could be completely wrong, but it seems like a set-up that could score and leak goals regularly, so it should be an entertaining one if it carries on.
