Greetings from t'South Coast, laike.

A few things. Roads in and out of Musherland. The M275 into the western side of the city currently has Average Speed Cameras on it set at 40 mph between the areas marked below. On the road itself it is quite easy to see as the road goes over a bridge over a lake past 'The Sails of the South', right up to the Rudmore Flyover. Don't fuck with them both in and out of the city, they have caught hundreds of drivers already.

Better way in is the Eastern Road (A2030) and follow it right the way down, past a boozer called the Good Companion and if I were you, just after the traffic lighted junction after this boozer, hang a left on Velder Avenue and find a parking spot in Milton. Ten minute walk to Farty Park therein.

I may be quaffing in a boozer in Milton called The Old Canal. It has some Mushers in but is decent old style and trouble free. Do not go into the Shepherd's Crook on Goldsmith Avenue (The White House nearby has closed down) and avoid anything in North End/Copnor. We wear red and white, so do Southampton so they get a bit radge when they see 'the colours'.

Away end is the Milton End, it is covered these days and Bladesmen can generate a lot of noise in there. Pompey have just won their supporters-led takeover battle so will be up for this as much as us, although they look pretty much fucked anyway and are playing for pride these days.

Up the fucking Blades.

Or you could take a train to Fratton and walk back down the road.

This is true, but average speed cameras won't apply to those on the train, of course.

What would be shit would be a number of Bladesmen posting on here that they'd taken the M275 to 'Portsmouth' believing it to be the only route into the city and then being buttfucked by the ASCs on the way in, and me knowing about it. As said, hundreds of drivers have been so, and many of them live in this region.

Clever folk are they?

:)

They are Mushers. 'Clever' isn't in their vocabulary.

"Are you Scummers in disguise?" is used as much as '"Are you pigfans in disguise?" despite the fact that said Scummers have changed their kit this season to mostly all red.

By the way people, there is a speed camera on the Eastern Road, pointing at the 'going into Portsmouth traffic' just before the Good Companion, just before the bend in the road. 40 mph as well.

Thanks for all the advice pommpey
There are a load of us staying over on Saturday night. Any advice on 5pm pubs and 11pm curry houses??
And what about a pub near the Travelodge?

I am impressed with all the 'preventative' speed camera stuff. I have visions of you being one of those blokes who bought those snooper devices (and all subsequent upgrades) as advertised in Mad magazine or whatever it was back in the 70's!

As a long time resident of the Issel de Widget (IoW). Pompey fans were the first lot I became to detest. Always thought they got a better press than they deserved.

Rather than making complex detours to avoid the speed cameras, wouldn't it be easier just to drive within the speed limit?

;)

If you guys are staying in the Travelodge in Portchester, nip down the road under the motorway bridge and hang a left into Port Solent. Theres a good curry house there. Taxi is best.

Please don't expect good beer down here. It's pish.

Avoid Copnor and North End. Southsea is the best place for a night out. Gunwharf Quays is okay - packed with slappers but expensive. If you're feeling brave, Bar 38, Tiger Tiger is the route to leg-over.

We were intending to stay the weekend (more likely somewhere else down there), but double booked with a charity run, so will be heeding the speed cam advice, especially as I'm apparently a boy racer :)

There's an Ibis in the middle of town (about 1.25 miles away from FP)

Pommpey,

Are Pompey fans confident of winning or drawing tomorrow? Will their probable line up be stronger or weaker looking than the team that played well against us earlier this season?

Think they are a lot happier now they are out from under the shadow of financial ruin. The future looks a bit brighter, although at the moment the detail on how they are going to manage and finance any regeneration and pay off their debts as such, because although it seems like they are straight, they aint. Plus, most of this team are on short-term contracts, so I expect a mass exodus next year.

Should be a good atmosphere. We have sold out our allocation and Pompey have nearly. The tall blonde security girl on the Milton end gate with a bun in is my work colleague. She's 'ard as. Don't be messing!

The atmoshere will be good, Pompey fans will be hopeful for at least a point, with the bookies offering 9/4 for Pompey I'll be having a flutter.

Play up Pompey

Hi Pommpey, me an a couple of mates travelling down by train to Fratton Station in the morning. How far is the Old Canal pub from there please?

UTB

Bit of a hike from Fratton Station to be honest. There and back = 2 miles.

The map below

1. Avoid the red area pubs = Pompey pubs
2. Avoid Railway Rifles = packed on matchday
3. Shepherd's Crook is apparently okay with away supporters now. We may be in there.
4. Park/pubs in the blue areas.
5. Yellow area is the main football ground car park
6. The area around the upper right corner of the red zone is usually the traffic weak spot on match days.
7. Away fans in Milton End

We plan on coming over Gosport Ferry and getting the Train from Portsmouth Harbour to Fratton and will try the Shepherd's Crook around 1300-1330

I will be in last year's home shirt with 'WOODS' on the back, and a black/red pinstripe Blades cap.

It is gonna be packed but to be honest, Pompey fans are loud and harmless.
