I understand why there was no "no" option because as you said you were looking for interest rather than a yes/no debate, but I'm basing my comments on years of following - that's simply because I'm older, not a bigger blade - and it doesn't sit well with me, and while I accept the future of the support lies with the younger element I'd hope the traditional outlook continues. The other downside for me is that there's constant criticism of the atmosphere generated by the Kop and moving x number of fans across to BLUT could well dilute it further.

Old farts view maybe but that's how I feel.

See where you're coming from there and I considered that too, but I think the Kop will always naturally produce a certain amount of noise, and if there was plenty of noise from our fans at the other end I think the Kop would respond.

I'm just about old enough to recall a time when having home fans on the BLUT was a permanent thing. They were very much spectators rather than the singing type.

The club did actually accomodate a singing section after some fans demanded it. It was on the A Block of the Kop. Unfortunately once they had it, they did fuck all in terms of actual singing and showed little interest in getting any atmosphere going. It was a pathetic showing and only goes to show that Unitedites aren't particularly serious about anything despite their all-fart-and-no-shit bluster.

If a sizeable number of serious-minded folk did show an interest in improving the atmosphere in the ground then I'd be on board in a shot. But nothing is currently forthcoming.

There was a call about a singing section before Blackwells (spit) last preseason. I remember sitting behind a couple of the people who were all up for it sat moaning at Mansfield about "embarrasing kids" because a group of 17-20 year olds sang there own song, had a laugh and generally improved the atmosphere around them. No suggestion that Ricky wants to be in charge whatsoever either but you can't make everyone happy.

I went in A block for the singing section. The first few games was good, numbers and noise. Problem was not many followed through on moving. It ended up largely being u16 blades which discouraged older blades from joining. Instead of being nurtured to something better it got ridiculed by other groups, and it didn't help alot of the people decided to get a high and mighty attitude to the rest of the kop. Singing songs like "we are the a block we'll sing on our own" . From there it was doomed and I moved back to gangway e.

No

I might move for a better view and concourse facility but unlikely as I like the kop

100% yes. Best view by a mile. Best accoustics and the perfect foil for the kop in the way Arsenals East Bank and Clock end created an amazing level of vocal support.
If we could sell it out then it would be irrelevant if next seasons visitors wanted 10 or 10,000 tickets.
Imagine a packed Lane intimidating the living crap out of visiting pigs from all sides and above.

We could shit on the bastards below more easily too. Ok, piss. Been up there on a few times and would be up for moving.

i clicked on yes simply because the view is great im perhaps too old to be singing and jumping about all match so can't see it changing the atmosphere much if most are like me but think my knees wouldn't get hammered from the prat in front of me on the kop

It's a no from me because I love it where I am and we do get behind the lads vocally. I do applaud Ricky for at least trying though. We will get very big crowds for many games next season and bollocks to away fans. Do what's right for us.

I would allocate 500 or so "unreserved seat" season tickets in the middle of the Lane End for like-minded singers to get together and maybe another couple of hundred for non-STs. It has certainly worked at Palace where a relatively small number create a real noise and it spreads.

54 so far. Not bad.

Also got to consider that many of these votes will count for 2 or more in reality - unless everyone would be going up there by themselves.

Should have included a 'Yes +1' option.

Not for me Ricky. I'm happy on the kop and can't see me moving any time soon for any reason, unless the kop finally gets re-developed. The view from BLUT is the best in the ground though.

No. Really wouldn't want to be that near the away fans. Listening to the pigs and Forest in close proximity, no thanks. I appreciate the sentiment though. If the amount of singing on the kop increased, I think our atmosphere would be sorted anyway.

As it happens you hear way less of the away fans sat in the BLUT than any other area. Their noise is below and confined by the roof between lower and upper tiers and then travels out towatds the kop. You could barely hear any Bradford singing yesterday.

If it wasn't you could just move back to the Kop, because it would be on a game by game basis, rather than a season ticket commitment (although maybe the club could offer an option to commit). Season tickets are only available in the upper corner.

The 'possibly' option in my mind mainly covers factors like price and convenience.
There's a few around me who've got season tickets in the Westfield because they're fed up of listening to the negativity and moaning on the Kop, getting on players back every game even after a season like this.

I suppose it's ok though if they take a 5 minute break from the jeering to join in with Jack O'Connel's hat.

As I've said elsewhere, first time in the Westfield today and was very impressed with the view and atmosphere.

Thought the chaps in the South Stand were the noisiest I've heard anywhere in the ground and despite what others have said on here, they kept chanting throughout the 90 mins.
It's like it every game mate. We sit in the same seats in the Westfield every game right next to H block and plenty join in, we've got season tickets there now that they've been made available.

I've moved to hospital corner next yr. Mainly for the view and facilities for me dad. I sat there for Bolton game and thought South stand were in great voice and lots around me were joining in. great atmosphere. Really looking fwd to next season.

The kop us OK but atmosphere is too fragmented for too much of the time.

Be good if the club changed its young person policy to everyone u21, even the u21s in full time employment won't be earning megs bucks and will help encourage more of the lads who help boost the atmosphere.I remember when I was about 14 and they opened the JS/Kop corner a season ticket was summit daft like £45 we bought our first season ticket on our own and a rest laugh. do something similar with the BL Upper?

He's got to be nimble then to get up them steps. ;)

I think it takes time for an area to build up a good atmosphere. Early on in the season in the Westfield it's was like sitting with a bunch of strangers but as this season progressed, it's got fuller and more people like us sit in the same seats. That'll be even more noticable next season with the season ticket.

Maybe the problem with the BLUT is that currently it's a new area for Blades with a bunch of strangers not knowing how to respond just in case they get told to sit daaarn or shurrup.

Where's the NO option? Anyway I've got a song to sing...

OHHHHHH JACK O'CONNEL'S MAGIC
HE WEARS A MAGIC HAT
AND IF YOU THROW A BRICK AT HIM HE'll HEAD IT FECKING BACK
HE HEADS IT TO THE LEFT
HE HEADS IT TO THE RIGHT
AND WHEN WE WIN PROMOTION
WE'LL SING THIS SONG ALL NIGHT!

Simple. No polls required. Anybody who wants to see change in the BLUT just get together, get in there yourselves and make it happen. Some people don't too feel easy with singing unless they're pissed especially if they're not regulars or with kids so you can me the difference. Meanwhile I'll do my bit from the Westfield (where I've got my shiny new season ticket) and maybe the two areas will merge into a cacophony of sound.

UP DEM CHAMPIONS!
Been in Westfield lots of times. Tried BLUT Monday and the forward, rather than slightly sideways view is much better in my view. Felt quite a bit steeper than Westfield though.

Too right it is, I actually saw all the goals for once.

Yes.
Spent most of this season in the Westfield and the noise from a few hundred away supporters in BLUT has been impressive at times. A similar number of Blades fans could make a good atmosphere, then who knows, 'great trees from little acorns'.

There's a good reason for that, we're all pissed

I'll see what it's like vs Chesterfield, haven't been there since the Prem season

He has. It hasn't on too many occasions.

I suppose different supporters have different takes on what is a good atmosphere and what isn't. Not sure how you can improve it fans either sing, chant or just clap politely it won't change. Hopefully CW will maintain results next season or presumably you will expect the atmosphere to be even worst.
