Will You Give Danny A Chance ?

Why not? He's not done anything wrong since he's been appointed, but I bet he'll get a lot less leeway than any other incumbent would have.

Come on Blades. Let's show DW that the carpark lynch mob are a tiny minority.

I'm not suggesting 100% happiness or even satisfaction; but support? Yes.

It was a typically bizarre decision from McCabe to appoint him, still he has got the job now. I'm not sure it would make much difference who was given the job (given how shit we are and the lack of money to put things right) but it would have been nice if it was someone we could have all got behind.

My feelings are well known on Wilson, no chance from me, I feel it'll be 6 wasted months before we sack him.

Wasn't happy that he was appointed at all. But as a club we can't really afford to be split at all this season, so we have to get behind him and the team, because we can't fail this season, we need to get back up as quickly as possible.

As far as I'm concerned, although he was not my choice, he is now the manager of the Blades, and as I'm a Blade, I'll back him 100%.

Like many people, I'm not happy with his appointment. Not solely because he is so Wednesday - though I admit it plays a part - but because I thought there were better options out there.

However, he is here now. He's saying the right things so I'll give him a chance. I won't boo him if he doesn't win his first game. I would hope that SUFC give him a full season now they've appointed him.

If he turns out to be rubbish, I'll smile and say I knew he would be. Bloody Pig.

If he turns out to be good, I'll give him his dues and back him. And say 'Not bad for a Pig!'

I wouldn't have chosen him, I'm not happy we've got him but I am willing to let him change my mind. It would be great to rub the Pigs' snouts in it when he gets us back to back promotions to the Premier League!

Whether you feel it's wasted or not Danny didn't give himself the job. Your 'no chance' atittude is at the wrong man. I wasn't originally happy with the appointment, however I was happy with Adams and that just blew up on my face. It's a funny old game and I hope he is a success. I have to admit being most surprised with your attitude on this

I support sheffield united 100% every week doesn't matter who is in charge. However i don't see why DW record should dramatically improve at BDTBL , i can't help but see us sat in 15th at the end of September, visit Swillsborough, they go 2 nil up in the 85th minute and pigs fans start chanting one Danny Wilson, i am sure all hell will break loose.

But what if we are top, and we go 2 up on the 85th minute, and we sing "there's only one Danny Wilson", I'm sure that all hell will break loose also.

Remember, ONCE a Blade, ALWAYS a Blade!

I personally think this is a step too far and if I thought that there was a thread of a chance that he could do well then I'd give my support, however, I really can't see how this will work on two fronts. Firstly, he's simply not good enough, its a big task for a manager who has a lot more failures on his CV than sucesses. It suggests that he doesn't have a clue. But secondly, McCabe ("hey i'm not in the habit of sacking managers") will panic again and sack him when we're not getting the results.

I must admit that this does go against the grain for me, but I have looked at a lot of the more objective comments by people of here and the only real positive is that he gets his sides playing football... which is great, but the record shows that he doesn't get wins by playing this lovely stuff...

I never for one minute imagined Danny Wilson would ever be the manager of our football club but now he is the gaffer he gets my full backing. He is a Blade like the rest of us now. The protestors are entitled their opinions but I think some people just get too wound up about football. What will be will be, get on with it I say.

Ive backed him from the day he was appointed, and will continue to do so, no more of this "he's a blade, he loves the club" bollocks he's here to do a job, get a squad together, play some coherent footbal and get us the hell out of league 1.

He's been appointed now, he needs every blade support. If it does go tits up and he doesnt do well, then like any other manager apart from wenger or fergie he will get the boot. Ancellotti won the double and the following year finished second, can you imagine if we did that and then sacked the manager?

The responsibility lies with the players more than it does with Wilson, its them i blame for last year.

Totally Unhappy with the appointment
The guy is on a hiding to nothing - he will not be succesful because according to his track record he is not a very good manager!
I will not give him any backing until he deserves it! But because of McCabe we are stuck with him!
It's nothing to do with his S6 connections it's because he's a piss poor manager
All I see is a wasted period of time and at the end everyone will say 'I told you so'
Not very often that my opinion is shared by Swiss but 'hey this games about opinions' and in McCabes view us supporters know jack sh!t about appointing managers!!!

I posted this on another thread:

Our man was also one of over 50 applicants at another club and was offered the job having been the stand out candidate.
He turned them down as he had an offer from a bigger club [SUFC].

Still not happy though but we've got to back him and give him a chance.

Not happy and I'll judge him on results and preformance, he isn't my man for the job, but he's here, so lets hope he gets the job done properly and our style of play does change for the better.

Not my choice but I will give him 100% support and judge by results, as with any manager. It would be a very stupid thing to undermine him from the start as this would make a very hard job impossible.
Like it or not, we are stuck with him now, lets just get on with it and HOPE!!!!

100% from me :) If he can get us playing decent football and picking up results then he'll soon win over some of the others.

He's not an inspirational appointment by any means - but he probably knows that.

Plus he hates Wednesday and so do I.

He might not be young,
He might not be pretty,
He might not be right good,
But he's here, he's hired and for one season (only ?)
Let's go the full monty.

At first I was in the No not ever camp. Now I am still not happy but will judge him on the results. His record doesnt fill me with confidence but as someone quite rightly states Ian Holloways wasnt great when he took over at Blackpool. Fergie was rumoured to be one game from the sack at Old Trafford when Mark Robins scored in the F A Cup and saved his job - 18 trophies later (Lets just hope that Wilson does the business) Surely no blade fan actually wants him to fail or thats another season wasted

Very surprised by your attitude Swiss. I had you down as the sort to give a man a fair chance before passing judgement type, as with your attitude to Blackwell and Adams.

I wasn't exactly overwhelmed by the appointment, but I am prepared to see how it pans out. Surely he should be allowed to show us what he can and can't do before we judge him.

Normally I would oldblade, I just think this time its a gamble too far :(

I still think Danny Wilson is a very, very poor appointment as manager.

I was furious when we appointed him over what i saw as candidates i saw as lot better people to employ as manager, people like Robins, Keith Hill and Pembo. I hope the protest would change McCabe's mind about appointing him but it didn't.

For me it was not against his pig connections, although his obvious pig credentials didn't lend him any support in the eyes of quite a few people, it doesn't matter if he has got pig credentials or not. I would have accepted Sheridan who is an up and coming manager over Wilson.

For the good of Sheffield United i would like to see Danny Wilson throw my words back down my throat and get us out of the third tier and enjoy a long and fruitful stint as Sheffield United manager, but i can't see it happening, but if he gets us off to a good start, and making progress then he will have my backing.

I'm strugglin' big time.... Head is telling me he's here, he's got a job to do mananging my beloved Blades but the heart is saying it goes against all my principles and his CV is crap. I've got a proper dichotomy going on here....
