[Poll] Expectations following the transfer window

I liked DCL a lot, raw yes but he seemed to be the only player we had who could win the ball in the air and do something with it, but having said that he still had a lot to learn and that takes time and lets face it the one thing Chris Wilder hasn't got right now is time.
If this gives him the money to build the team he needs to get us out of this Div. and save his job while making himself a Blades legend then who can blame him for thinking the future will take care of it's self......
 



I've decided to revise my prediction of bottom place to 23rd .

Wonder if the Gillingham result is going to affect this much...
 
Can't believe no one's gone for 21st yet.
If we were going to get ourselves relegated we all know it would have to be on the last day of the season, securing the final spot on goal difference.....with Ched scoring the goal that sealed our fate.
 
I demand at least 300 votes.
 
Bump. Today affect things much? I suppose it's a game we should always expect to win, but we've lost these games in the past.
 
7th still the average...
 
Got us down for fifth place as I can't see wilder letting them shuffle about during games like that knobhead Adkins did, just on the strength that they will be managed, or be gone if they don't perform... The playoffs.. Anything else is a bonus..
 
I originally went for 7th but am more optimistic following Gillingham and Wimbledon................think we might improve on that but I'll come back to you after Posh and Scunny! 4 points from those and I'm going automatic!!

I think our expectations could be affected a fair bit by what happens against Peterborough but the poll ends tomorrow. I think that's fair though - the time this poll has been open is probably the right time to record the expectations - after the transfer window, when we've seen almost all the new signings in action. Between now and January it could go either way and expectations could change dramatically, but it would all be hindsight.

At the moment I'd consider changing from 9th to 6th but I'm not going to because I believe the time I predicted 9th was the fairest time to do so.

Any more votes? About 280 so far.
 
291 votes now, 288 when discounting the votes for 24th which are all just really funny jokes.

Average crept up to 6.7. Very reasonable and fair if you ask me.

Is it binding or if the slashers think the final position is too high, will you have to do another one?

6th ? Not a cat in hells chance .

EEL , Lafferty and Lavortory in on deadline day gaurenteed a bottom 3 finish . And that's with one of em who hasn't kicked a ball for us yet !

Anyone who is happy with our current state of affairs is deluded .

Open the poll again when the final whistle blows tomorrow herby and I gaurentee the result will be a more accurate reflection of where we'll finish .

Minimum expectation: 10th



With the pre season predictions in mind (see link, average league position prediction 3.7), which I think should be considered, and the fact that just the odd lower position selection can easily distort it, I'm rounding up 6.9 to 6th. I think this is fair. I shouldn't have included below 20th because realistically there's no chance we'll get relegated.

So an average expectation of 6th, and a minimum expectation of 10th.


Overall I think it's a very accurate reflection of how reasonable and modest our expectations are based on the reality of our situation, despite the assumptions that as fans we expect to win the league.

Sorry for picking on you Ricky, I voted fifth, but overall this shows how useless we are at predicting football results.

No wonder fans get called fickle. With the facts changing every week, it's hardly odd that people's views change every other week

6th was around the average expectation in the end, and I think that was fair.

We've had a number of unexpected bonuses that have seen us win the league - Wright, EEL, Freeman, Coutts, the consistency of the 3-5-2, Duffy in the 10 position and most of all Wilder himself, who has proven to be a top manager in every department.

totally agree Ricky, just interested in how it turned out. There are some professional negative fuckers talking about a relegation scrap who need calling out though
