Hearing #sufc new foreign investor has Billy McKay at the top of his shopping list. Nervous 2 days until the window shuts.

anybody seem much of this kid? N.I international & he does seems to score goals but that being said he plays in the SPL.

Is he the lad that was at Northampton before going up to the SPL? I remember him being quite highly thought of if it's the same guy.

just checked wiki and you're correct, your memory serves you well

Pass. Not checked it, don't believe it. Just added it to the list.

Just checked - signed for Blackburn this summer, not played yet. Probably a non-starter.

Didn't Killa once say he would never resign for an old club? Mind you Eto'o once said he would never sign for Chelsea

Who's this guy? It sounds like Kevin McCabe's voice, but the phrases "we've got several bids in for players" and "I definitely expect signings before the window shuts" seem completely alien: https://audioboo.fm/boos/1574536-su...eet&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twittershare
In fairness this is the normal pre window closing rhetoric, only to be followed by - "the fax machine is broken" or some shambles after the window has closed.

I fully expect to hear "well we got an excellent offer for Baxter just before the window closed" on Tuesday.

This was quite different. Gone was the tone of voice that suggested he was just saying that to move onto the next question - it actually sounded like the signings were inevitable. Even McCabe himself sounded like he surprised to hear the words emanating from his mouth with such confidence - like an out-of-body experience.

Did they play together much, Killa wasn't a regular in the Prem, and was used at LB as much as CH if I remember correctly, and didn't Jags leave at the end of that season?

Correct. It was Morgan and Kilgallon that formed the partnership. And, I think people are being harsh on Kilgallon. He was quality, just another of the players that has left us to do sweet F all.

Kilgallon was poor without Morgan ,they made a very good partnership though. Sunderland fans think hes shite.

Ha ha he's obviously getting good at it :)

We've been down this road far too many times for any of us to get excited before the window is closed and business concluded. But it sounds very positive so far. The business to date of selling KMac and then bringing in Baxter is better than could've been imagined. I didn't buy into the hysteria around KMac, he was far too much of a one trick pony. Although it was disappointing to lose one of the better players, its given us some room to manoevre

But if we can replace him with a number of players to compliment each other and add balance, then we'll be on the right track.

Nobody is being harsh on Killa, he did a very good job at the time and was solid alongside Morgs. They complimented each other, but as we've found with the likes of Jags, Cahill and Bartley, Morgs seemed to compliment other centre halves well. We've missed Morgs a lot. I think Killa himself saw himself as a better player than he was.

Killa was perhaps more easy to replace. He was a talented footballer but at Championship level we were able to replace him. Would've been nice to see the Morgs and Killa partnership develop.

Killa would probably not take the step down to us and would again be an expensive player for this division that we perhaps don't need. We need to keep our focus on this division and the salary protocol. Not just because the FL says so, but because its the right way to manage ourselves - Live within our means.

Weir thankfully seems to have the right attitude, bring in young, hungry players that want to play football, not just expensive players along for the ride (Kitson, Higgo and McMahon)

I always thought Kilgallon kicked on tremendously when he was partnered with Cahill rather than Morgan.

He needed to. Alongside Morgs he was always going to be the 2nd centre half. Morgs was such a commanding leader there. He was led rather than being the leader.

I still wouldn't be surprised if Harry went though so I'm expecting at least one centre half.

anyone hear that Baxter would be a great player for as long as the weeks and months he is here from weir... could be an under generalisation but sounded like he was earmarked for a Blackman style move

He's already hoping his paperwork was filled in incorrectly and that technically he's still and Oldham player after today.

Yes Pups, exactly what I thought when I heard it.
You get to be so cynical when you have supported a team of underachievers for so long.

.

Just having a browse of twitter and as shocking as this may sound nobody seems to have a clue who were signing, albeit Cuvelier seems likely loan or otherwise i don't know, i just pray we sign 3 or 4 tomorrow of similar quality to Baxter otherwise we've no hope in hell of finishing mid table never mind playoffs or better.
