Positives.
Hecky already knows the players (as we will no doubt be keeping this squad).
Knows the youngster's and brings them through well.
Speaks clear English.
Gets on well with all the players.
Only won one game less than Wilder in our relegation season, in a lot fewer games.
He's bringing two United legends along with him.
McBurnie 'liked' the announcement immediately leading me to believe some players weren't happy under Slav.
And finally, his teams play with 3 at the back.

Sounds like only players that we will see what will be new is the youth so basically youth et promoted then the scouts bring in more for the under 23s and so on
So there's no chance that we could possibly repeat Wilders strategy of picking the right players - because we won't be getting them from the PL?

Today has been one of the most confusing days i and prob many others have had since we started our love affair with the Blades.

We have seen some shockers and i mean shockers in the past - real head scratching days but today is right up there with them

Honest question - just what are any positives whatsoever from todays outcomes - i cant find any at all

Please help
We now know that we're back to being a selling club over a spending club...

  1. For whatever reason the players collectively weren’t responding to Slav, so sacrificing one man potentially improves the performance of 11/22
  2. The players were very supportive of Heck last season and will probably respond better to McCall and Lester than they did to Slav’s senior team (whose names I can’t even remember)
  3. The team’s performances have been better using the ‘old’ formation, which Heck also employs
  4. He knows how to get the best out of the younger players
  5. Olsen may not find it as easy to walk straight back into the team
  6. The contrast between Wilder and Slav couldn’t have been greater; Heck is much more people focussed
Don’t get me wrong, I remain to be convinced that Heck is the answer but I saw enough of Slav to know that he definitely wasn’t for our club, despite his successes elsewhere.

Stuart McCall

I’ll be honest, it’s naive to think those guys have got anything other than superficial control - the gentlemen who have now melted into the background will have absolute control from afar.
Like a microcosm of the whole political world then. ;)

There's a few - how about climbing the league up to and past the Xmas period.

We've gone back to being solid in defence - the old adage - don't concede, don't lose.

Basham, Egan and Davies are perfectly capable of keeping clean sheets given the correct coaching.

UTB

Well of course they are, but you can't play those three in goal, I know we don't have VAR, but a ref or linesman might spot 3 keepers

Absolutely fucking none. Zip. Nada. Nowt.

Do you think that Fulham, WBA or Bournemouth would do similar? Nope.

The wheel turns full circle from about 3 decades ago when clubs wanted to aspire to the Crewe Alex model, only bottom 2 tier teams still aspire to this through financial necessity, forward thinking teams aspire to the Brentford model, which actually means spending money and excellent recruitment/scouting,now where are Crewe and where are Brentford?

Nope and its only going to get worse.
This time next season Wednesday will be nearer the Premiership than we will be.

I don't have much faith in the Prince's real understanding of how to run a club like ours successfully. I cant see that there have been many (any?) good decisions since he and his crew took over. Personally Id rather McCabe have won the court case, he was far from perfect but the better of the two options in my view.
There is clearly a money problem at the club. The Prince hasn't much and there is a huge amount tied up in very expensive underperforming players no one else seems to value.
So the one good thing that may come out of this? Well its a recognition that we are in for a time of consolidation and its better that nettle is grasped by supporters asap.
Many supporters will once again disappear, annoyed and disgusted and let down, like when this has happened before (1966 1975, 2010 come to mind, oh and that year Deane and Fjiortoft were sold) And will be back when things turn round which you have to hope for.

Its sad and it pisses me off that it comes to this. I think of the Norwich match pre-covid when things looked so brilliantly rosy.
But I've seen quite a bit of the U23s recently and what I have seen I've liked. We could have done much worse than Hecky. Let him get to work and see what happens.

Like returning from 2weeks in Sweden and realising you back in the UK

Big positive for me is Jack Lester working with our strikers. He's was a really intelligent striker, especially his movement.
Also the fact that we're going back to basics. Get a team giving 100% in this league and you're likely to pick up a result.

This time we have a manager who knows we don't have money to throw around. So he knows what he has to work with.
Hopefully he fully understands that you can't spend money that you don't have, otherwise you end up like S6, or Derby.
Well if we don.t have any money god knows how others survive . Two years in the prem three years parachute payments 30 mill from the gunners no signings for months and months . Yes there has been covid which has affected ALL CLUBS not just ours but we seem to be the most skint club in the championship apart from Derby . 28.000 gates god help this club when the gates go down to 15000 next year because the way things are going it will happen.
