Maybe, but I think we have an A+ management team, which puts us in rare company even at this level. That compensates for a lot, even if our budget is more "see me after class".

Honestly, I would back Wilder & co to finish above half of the managers in this league, on a 10th of their budgets.

You can stretch an elastic band so far before it snaps.

Hello there. I'm Mr Htims and I come from some place far away

I'm wondering if anybody has any information on these transfers? I would like to ideally know how much these transfers are for and how much these players are being paid so I can send my congratulations to Mr Wilder on his activity. From one real person to another...

What I'm getting at is that if Norwood is injured, Berge moves to the middle, but if Lunny's suspended who's gonna play RCM? You may think that its unlikely but I think we need two for every position, that's all i'm saying mate.
Possibly Rodwell goes into holding centre mid and Berge starts on the right. More concerned about cover for Bash and Baldock, but it sounds like we have a plan, so not getting jittery.

This is why CW shouldn’t give interviews like that.
Loads of OTT suggestions and then when 3 come in this week folks on here will be disappointed and moan about it.

We know with a good degree of certainty that Burke is going to one, so that leaves 2 both of which could be the backup fullbacks which aren’t going to excite anyone.
Queue meltdown on Wednesday.

Bob totally agree, but what is so fantastic about Wilder is he was asked questions and he gave a truthful answer.

My guess would be ...

In
Oliver Burke - Swap
Rhian Brewster - Loan
Joe Rodon - Permanant
Clarke Odour - Permanant

Out
Callum Robinson - Swap
Michael Verrips - Loan

I like Callum Robinson so would like to have seen him stay, either way CWAK knows best!!

Would love Rodon at The Lane and, as McB's best mate, we'd probably be in a good position to maximise our appeal to him but I just don't see us paying the fee they would want for someone who isn't going to go straight into the team as a certain starter.

Bash has got the shirt at RCB and, barring injury, I can't see him losing it this season so my post on another thread still stands in that anyone brought in to push the current incumbent in a certain position will be in the £6-10m bracket at most.

Very important to make sure we manage to get lunny to sign a new contract a fully fit lunny and we won’t find a better back up to push berge him

Also never understood why he couldn’t be used as back up to baldock

Could easily do what Osborne does In covering both positions on the right hand side

Lunny has all the attributes to be quality wing-back if needed IMO

If we swap Robinson for Burke and bring in 2 backup WB after losing Freeman then IMO the squad is weaker so fans will be right to moan especially if 2 strikers don’t come in until after the first few games of the season.

I like the way Htims thinks!

It appears John lundstram is being referred to by Wilder as a player who will be with us for the new season, can only assume that he is on the verge of signing a new contract as CW says he does not want anyone else to compete with the midfield six and quotes :—-

Fleck / Osborn
Sander / Norwood
lundstram / rodwell

With Basham being able to step in there if required

Slightly disappointed by this, on the face of it. Improving creativity and ball retention in the middle third of the pitch looked like priorities to me, this window.

But several weeks left. And we don’t know who these 5 are, yet. Fingers crossed.

Maybe he's counting Rodwell as a midfield option?

You have L to R:
Fleck (Osborn), Norwood (Rodwell), Berge (Lundstram)

Granted if Norwood is out then every chance Lunny comes in on the right and Berge drops back if Norwood is out.

Decent blend of athleticism and experience there.

Maybe he isn't encouraged by the Swift pursuit anymore and is finding it easier to get reenforcements elsewhere if he pushes Rodwell to covering midfield?

Maybe decided to look at Swift again just before the window closes, or perhaps January.
If Swift is wanting to go, he can go through the motions there and basically force a sale while preparing for the move north.

Pity, he’s a good player who would add a bit of creativity into the group and give us a different tactical option. But with Reading apparently losing a lot of money their resolve to hang onto players can’t last while there’s a risk of them falling foul of FFP

He is.

Part of me thinks that this no need for a midfielder point is a misdirection after growing frustrated over leaks, but I think it’s wishful thinking on my part.
