Players we should be looking to bring in this summer.

some very depressing replies on this thread but can understand the pessismism however i dont think things are as gloomy as some are suggesting weve got 6/7 nailed on first teamers out through injury with no injuries we would have made the top 6 comfortably and even had a shot at automatic promotion yes clear 4 or 5 out this summer and bring 3 or 4 in and i dont see any reason why we shouldnt be challenging again next season

Agree about the injuries effecting us this season. However the bigger longer term picture is pretty bleak if you ask me.

As it stands we have

Mcgoldrick
Sharp
Basham
Osborn
Freeman
Adam Davies

All out of contract plus

Uremovic, Davies, MGW, Hourihane and Goode whose short term deals expire

That’s 11 first teamers on their way out as it stands with no attempt to tie them back down.

The loans were added on PL wages too next year the philosophy has changed to promote from within and thus replace any outgoings with the kids we have at the club. Feel like a broken record here but this isn’t us guessing this was what was said in that proper odd presser when heck took over.

understand what your saying but loads of other clubs are in the same boat its going to be a struggle financially for most championship clubs next season for a start think brewster will come good next season just need to get some underperforming highly paid players off the wage bill to bring 3 or 4 in

The dingle hasn't been gifted a 41/2yr contract to make us a top EPL side/club, so unless princey gives him a few quid from any sale we make, Bargain-basket buys & the kids! will be the order of the day for the foreseeable future.
There's some good choices been put forward on this thread, Chair, Bowler, Swift etc, but they are not signings the prince has the finances to make!.
At present I am at a loss to think of a 3rd or 4th Div player that I would want in our side!!.

The joy of being a Blade!!!!!!

Is John Stead still playing......?

Some people ask do we really want to go up?

Course we do - we need the money perhaps more than we ever have . There is no money otherwise , as you said , that was made perfectly clear by the owners . Not slagging them off btw as they sanctioned what we earned to be spent on players - we know what happened there .

The prospects for next season if we don’t go up look bleak , imo

A fully fit squad aint that far off. If we don't go up get shut of Berge (he's a luxury we can well do without) and use the money to get in leaders at centre half, centre mid and centre forward. The goals we keep conceding late on don't happen when we have proper leaders in the team.
😂😂 and how much are you expecting for Berge
5 mill with add ons at best that won’t get you much with wages

We'll get nearer 10, I should think. Still young. Still a well though of player. He'll likely go to Europe though.

After last weeks board meeting with Hecky they said they were looking at free transfers & lower league players with potential. Real statement of intent !
I think if offers come in for a few of our higher paid players Berge etc they’ll cash in and cant see any of that getting reinvested, based on fact we’ve signed no one in last 3 transfer windows & didn’t use any of Ramsdale money ?
Wilders big spending spree has probably ruled out "signings"for a season or three.

Be interesting to see a clear out and what Hecky does.

Gk- Fods
Wingback right- bogle
Def centre-
Def centre-Egan
Def centre-
Wingback left- Davies norrington

Mid centre
Mid centre
Att mid - Ndyie

Striker - jebbison
Striker- Brewster

Work to be done

Think we will get around 10/15
I guess it depends on the market. Hrd to judge how much money will be around. His suitors last summer seemed to come from Italy but the amounts being discussed were low.

Sorry, late to the party on this one but the management team are desperate to hold on to Berge as they've already been told any money raised from his sale will not be reinvested. Obviously can't reveal the source but it's genuine. Tough times ahead I'm afraid but Wilder did it on a shoestring so it's not impossible it happens again with the right man at the helm.

The truth is, I shouldn't think we've ever had a single end of season where as fans we have less idea of what we'll get, and that gap will be a long way from what we need- but who knows?

They'll want to massively cut costs so sales will happen and contracts won't be renewed- but half the players we'd love shot of won't have a queue waiting to take them and won't be in any hurry to leave. And ripping up contracts/giving frees costs a fortune.

If Berge, Mousset, Burke etc are off the wage bill and we get rid of some deadwood, we could be left (best case scenario) with maybe Brewster, Bogle, Bash, Billy, Wes, Fleck and a few who we'd rather move on....but even with a few frees thrown in, it could be enough to make it click. It did for Warnock- and Wilder early on. Only takes the right couple of players to turn a shite side into a good'un.

All in, fuck knows, so not much point speculating what we need yet. But even if we can't spend owt, no need to think we'll struggle next season yet.

Tom Cairney would be a nice addition ie players like him who would be unlikely to figure in teams going into prem.

I've always like the look of Szmodics at Peterborough.

Anyone thinking we could get the likes of Swift and Joao are living in a dream world, even league one clubs slap a price of a few million on good young players with potential. Can anyone realistically see us spending millions to bring in league one players in? Not going to happen as stated when Hecky was appointed we will be looking for free transfers or players released from Cat one academies whilst trying to move on our high earners. Mid table in the Championship might be a struggle next season.

I think that say alot about Wilder's purchases.

Stay down ? Egan ,Berge and i reckon Baldock will be sold

If we are to recruit then I believe Darragh Lenihan in out of contract

In a perfect world if we were selling & then reinvesting some decent players at this level

Forwards
Joao - Reading
Meitte - Reading
Gyorkeres - Coventry
O’Hare - Coventry

Midfield
Bowles - Blackpool
Swift - Reading
Koroma - Huddersfield
O’Brien - Huddersfield
Weimann - Bristol City
Rothwell - Blackburn
Chair - QPR
Colwill - Cardiff

Defenders
Van Der Hecke - Blackburn
Burns - Ipswich
Da Silva - Bristol City

i hope we go for young lower league players, Scott Twine of MK Dons up front, Luke Mcnally and Paudie O’connor 2x Irish CB’s from the league one/two. Antony Evans Centre mid who’s done well in League Two with 8x assists and 8 goals

All players under 25 who’ve done well in the leagues below
Add Wes Burns @ Ipswich to those cracking attacking right back

Dave Bassett once said sign league 1players that's we're you eventually end up playing 👍.

All depends on who goes and what money we get for them as to what market we're shopping in.

Lucas Joao should be a target
did look good but Joao very much a good one day awful the next and i believe their are fitness issues [didnt mange 90mins on saturday]

Who’s doing well in League One that’s young and affordable? Would rather us shop here (and more realistically we will) than drop lots of money on people like Joao and Swift.
