Players we should be looking to bring in this summer.

John Swift. Box to box, good ballwinner. 11 goals and 13 assists this season.

Our midfield combined are nowhere near this guy's stats!

How DARE you!

Oliver Norwood 'makes us tick'. He puts some 'lovely balls' across the park and ... and ... he's um ... scored a goal and made loads ... um ...

pommpey

We wouldn't be able to pay the wages and signing on fee he'd want.

I think we will need to spend a bit of time researching League One for recruitment.

Swift, Wallace, Lawrence, Rothwell are the obvious out of contract picks but will they squeeze a gig higher up? Or will we have appetite for these top end players?

I'd like us to go for Ilias Sebaoui from Beerschot as a replacement for Gibbs-White.

I'm sure PurpleRain won't thank me for this sentiment but he really would be wasted in the Belgium 1B. On one hand he would help Beerschot immeasurably at that level but on the other he deserves to be playing higher. It would be a pity kf he went to another Belgium team as this would just be self defeating - aim to get back up and compete but immediately strengthen a future rival. I wouldn't entertain that at all.

I like this kid. He's got maturity beyond his years and a big game temperament. We could even possibly swap for Coulibaly if Hecky is not convinced. I'm sure Beerschot would see him being a player who could get them back up if fully fit.
Personally think Sebaoui is far from ready for a higher level. He’s had about 3 good games. He has a lot more to prove over a longer period of time. Being a first team player in 1b will already be a big challenge at this moment in his career. I would definitely pick Coulibaly over Sebaoui to develop into a top player at this moment. The biggest mistake the owners made is not transferring Tissoudali last year to you guys instead of selling him for a pocket change to Gent. He is the best attacking player in 1a and is in talks with Valencia now and is going to the World Cup with Morocco and playing the cup final today. How they let a player like that go while you were in the premier league is insane and a proof that there is no football brain in United world’s board.

We need to resign all our current players first and then go for it next season.

Can't deny that would have made a lot of sense re Tissoudali.

Hopefully you have a sell on clause.

I can see both sides to Sebaoui. He would definitely flourish being given a regular role next year for Beerschot, no doubt. You then see Club Brugge linked and Frieberg and they are prepared to take a gamble on him.

Unfortunately I doubt in our current situation we will be going for any ready made solutions. It may need to be young players of promise.

I have no issue with the United World concept but like many things, if the judgement or decision making are not of good quality, it undermines the concept.

I don't think we've got anything to spend.
However, players I like that would normally be on a list of a team in our position...

Jake Cooper, Tosin Adarabioyo, Harry Toffolo, Jed Wallace, John Swift, Lucas João, Jonathan Hogg, Lewis O'Brien, Levi Colwill, Joe Rothwell, Andreas Weimann, Josh Bowler, Keane Lewis-Potter, Ilias Chair, Viktor Gyokeres, Elijah Adebayo.

We need new wing-backs that contribute going forward. Happy to sacrifice a bit of attacking out put from the wide centre halves. Just want some shithouses in there to make us less of a light touch.

We're not going to have Berge or MGW next season. But some midfielders with some bite and presence would be really useful.
Sick of being overrun through the middle of the park.

McGoldrick won't be here.
McBurnie will probably stay on and look for a free transfer next Summer.
Should think we will keep Sharp.
Brewster will probably take a long time to get up to speed.
We definitely need another striker. Keinan Davis has made such a difference at Forest. João, if he could be consistent, could have a similar sort of impact here. If not, a striker with that skillset would be useful.

He’s been injured for most of the season. 5 goals in 11 games this year, 19 in 39 last year.

Reading pay astronomical wages, which I suspect is one of the reasons he’s still there.
didnt know about his injury that would make sense, but i just worry he is another calum robinson

If we don’t go up, we’ll be looking to bring in the best young players from league 1/2, which there is nothing wrong with btw.

There’s plenty I’d like us to get rid of but considering most are under contract won’t be that easy

After last weeks board meeting with Hecky they said they were looking at free transfers & lower league players with potential. Real statement of intent !
I think if offers come in for a few of our higher paid players Berge etc they’ll cash in and cant see any of that getting reinvested, based on fact we’ve signed no one in last 3 transfer windows & didn’t use any of Ramsdale money ?

RWB currently on loan at Bolton , Marlon Fossey i think , American lad, great pace, good end product too , Bolton fan I know raves about him

Good chance he won't be in Fulham's side next season

Summer signings 🤣 We will be lucky if one or two from the under 23's make the step up.

Concerning article if true. Without new investment/partners next season in the Championship will be a struggle to keep our heads above water. Most money is likely to be spent on third parties trying to flog off the likes of Berge and considering low ball offers for Bogle and Egan. The rest will cover interest on loans and paying high wages of those still in contract. Contract negotiations will drag on for those out of contract as the Club looks to keep costs down probably pissing the likes of Basham and Sharp off. PH's only options may be to offer revised lower wages contracts to the likes of Osborn and Robinson who are mid/lower table championship standard on their better days.

PH's wish to see movement early is just pie in the sky. Not going to happen. He may have discussed with Bettis but he's not on the Board. The Board is overseas consisting of a lawyer, accountant/finance man, technical overseas football man and the Princes daughter. What will they know about league 1 players and freebies? Their time will probably be taken up drafting a new Resolution of Thanks to PH for achieving 8th position.

We are short on coaching staff despite the promises of a number of coaches coming in, a lack of conditioning and medical support has killed our season. Will PH be able to bring anyone in? doubtful. For those saying they don't want us to go up this season the stark facts are without an injection of EPL money we will flounder next year and are unlikely to trouble the play off places IMO.

As for our owner he's fallen off the grid, not on the Board any more and adopted radio silence.

Of course in an alternative world we win our next 4 games blast the play offs and achieve the impossible leading to PA's self imposed exile ending. If Carlsberg did SUFC. If only.

Campbell for Luton, midfield runner, ball carrier and driver. Good box to box player who loves a tackle

We need to manage expectations. Signings like Swift are laughably out of our reach unless we got promoted.

We need to be looking at the best young players in league 1, League 2 and non-league, as well as free transfers which will fill our gaps from the smaller teams in the Championship. Allied with loans from the EPL.

Much depends on which players will stay or go. For instance, if we offer Sharp a contract then we have 4 strikers on our books on big money (Sharp, McBurnie, Brewster and Burke). We'd then also have Jebbo and Osula/Hackford etc. If we can get one or two out on loan then we can potentially bring one or two in, but if not we're stuck with the same players. This is the harsh reality of our situation and Wilder's recruitment.

No one is going to pay us decent money for anyone outside of Berge, Bogle, Lowe and maybe Ndiaye. We can't sell players like Stevens or Fleck because they're on big wages and who is going to match them?

This will take years, but we have no patience so destined to fail and end up in League 1 again.

No no no that’s not gloomy enough. Surely you mean League 2 or the Conference. Come on, if you’re gonna spout off willy nilly about our destiny please go the whole shebang.

Sorry, let's talk about us signing John Swift, MGW and Joao in Narnia instead.

To be fair, that's what the club are saying.

"Young, hungry players who want to play for the shirt. Not this overpaid bunch of wasters"

Sheffield Wednesday fans 17/18-20/21
Sheffield United fans 21/22 - ?

Who do you want to see us going for??
We need 4 or 5 players to come in in my eyes, we also need 5 or 6 to go out, but who should we be looking at in your opinion???
Pointless for us fans?! if Princey doesn't want to spend on us .... Remember it's United World now ... we know we need investment ... but I'm not optimistic!

some very depressing replies on this thread but can understand the pessismism however i dont think things are as gloomy as some are suggesting weve got 6/7 nailed on first teamers out through injury with no injuries we would have made the top 6 comfortably and even had a shot at automatic promotion yes clear 4 or 5 out this summer and bring 3 or 4 in and i dont see any reason why we shouldnt be challenging again next season
