Rather than posting in the heat of the moment, I thought I'd wait a few hours before commenting, until I'd calmed down a bit and composed myself.

FUCKING SHITTY BOBBAR WANKY FUCKING USELESS SET OF CUNTS THE LOT OF THEM!!!

We'll find out next season if we stay up because it will be promotion or bust next year.

Yep, Nigel's real test will be in the summer. If we do stay up, he has to resist the temptation to stick with some of the players who help him achieve that aim. The majority of these players have no place in a promotion squad, unless some of them can miraculously put a run of form together and prove us wrong. Of current first squad I think only Maguire and maybe Baxter would be part of an automatic promotion first eleven. That is unless Clough can squeeze improvement out of players who so far have seen us regress almost without respite for 18 months.

Despite the Villa result, we all know that the current set of players aren't good enough !
Not inspired by the signing of Paynter but saying that a far better option than Porter
Villa was a false dawn, Mr Clough has less than three weeks to get some decent players in and ship out some of the dross
I wish him well - for all our sakes because Division Four will be a reality - We're not too good to go down !!

Still think Doyle is a world class player and captain?
Never said that (please find me the quote). However,he appears to be theone who gets the abuse even when other players are worse than him during the ame. He made a mistake midway through the 2nd half yesterday and fans got abusive despite the auful efforts of certain other players

As I have asked before, how do fans know whether he is a good captain or not (or alternatively the best option we have). No one seems to have answered that one.

He made a mistake half way through the 2nd half yesterday and the fans abused him mercilessly. Hill makes a mistake for the goal and the next touch he gets booed. The current 'dogs bollocks' bottled tackles, constantly misplaced a pass and then dissappeared as the going got tough and yet doesn't even get a mention. Don't get me wrong,I like him as a player but he hid from the game yesterday at times and I don't expect that from any Blades player

We were poor yesterday and for me,Paynter was the only positive. What annoys me is when fans seem to ignore when a player has a poor game as they are a favourite and yet jump on the backs of players who don't hide and aren't favourites. It is the same problem we had with McDonald last season.

as I have explained before, it is the captain's responsibility to make sure that heads do not drop after conceding a goal or when things are at a low ebb and from what i have seen he doesnt seem to do that since he has been the captain (remember Maguire's poor back pass to Long led to a goal before Xmas and instead of geeing them up Doyle just turned round with his head down waiting for the game to re-start). His quote two years ago "Not getting promotion is not an underachievment" was a very stupid thing to say and that didnt inspire the fans or the players. This season we are playing a formation that seemed to suit Doyle more than the team. As we know that Doyle is small, not strong, too slow and doesnt play killer passes so he is playing in a role that makes him look okayish, playing in front of the defence where there is a lot of space (due to most of our opponents playing in a "safe and solid" formation), running sideways like a crab and passing sideways or backwards (there are managers in junior football whose son isnt one of the best players in the team often play their son in similar sort of role which helps make him look a decent player). My nickname for Doyle is "World class" because for some reasons he is "undroppable". We are in our this season in a row in the 3rd tier of the league and only one point away from relegation zone so there is definitely something wrong with the leadership. Like Alastair Cook whose side have lost 5-0 to not one of the best Aussie sides in history (and lost easily today in the 1 day internationals), Doyle doesnt seem to inspire his teammates. I am desperate for Clough to sign a midfield general captain in the JTW more than a player in any other positions.

Clough needs to be allowed to buy and replace during this window.

A disappointing result, yes.
Clough has set us up 'not to lose' away, trying to stop the rot.
I feel we've got to try and be more positive as draws will not keep us up.

It's going to be tough.

UTB!

Is division 4 so much worse than most of the dross in this league. Bigger names apart, wolves, errrrrrr, yep that's it. If we manage to stay up ( I think we will by the way), it may take a couple of seasons for Nigel to gel a team capable of challenging for promotion, so starting the revolution in div 4 may not be the end of the world. We may even win a few.

Except this was the sort of nonsense spouted about relegation to D1. What if we find D2 a bit tricky as well? Go and tear up the Conference?

Time for all concerned to roll their sleeves up when it matters and stop pretending it will all go away if they wish hard enough. Don't care if they feel as strongly about us as many of us do them, they are employed by SUFC and their job is to win football games so time to do it lads.

Oh God yes, all those threads talking about how relegation, a clean sweep and then pissing the league would be great for the club in the long run.

If we're lucky we'll be in League One for the fourth season running next season.

What concerns me is that there are a number of players who are playing for their future in football and some of them seem to be under the illusion that if/when we go down to League 2, they will get an extension to their contract, hopefully that will never happen but I really can see Doyle being offered another year maybe 2. That's the way Sheffield Utd operates. I firmly believe this is why they aren't up for the fight because most of them are are finished as footballers. They really are in 'last chance saloon'.

I also don't have much faith in Glough because so far the negativity has outweighed the positive. He's far too cautious for me and not at all a 'chip off the old block'. For anyone out there who thinks Doyle's good captain material, sadly you don't have a clue about leadership skills. He has none!

Whilst the result was disappointing it was no surprise. That performance yesterday has been the norm for the last 18 months from this squad of players. The odd performance like last week gets us thinking that the players are better than this but the reality is they are not. This is their level. Looking at the starting line up yesterday I would say 3 are decent and possibly will get better (Baxter, Maguire and Long). Collins, Hill, Doyle, Mcmahon and Porter are past their best and will gradually get worse. Flynn and Mcginn are as good as they are going to get which is not good enough on a consistent basis. Not sure about Coady but he will go back to Liverpool anyway. That leaves one hell of a rebuilding job to do next summer as I don't think there is much in the rest of the squad that will significantly improve what started yesterday.

I think we will need 2 or 3 short term additions to keep us up this year as I do not think the current squad have the fight in them and actually think they are better than they are. Without new faces we will go down as the pressure will mount the longer we stay around the bottom and this lot will not have the bottle to cope with it. We will need a large influx oh players in the summer and a mass clear out of the existing squad if we want to make a serious promotion challenge next year. The Princes money may be needed to pay of existing contracts as well as new signings as we cannot just wait for poor players contracts to run out.

I read something like that when Fanny Adams was weaving his Magic for us Jonboy. If we still don't do the biz in League 2 then maybe a spell in the conference would finally get us back on track? Where does it end buddy?

This is really frustrating.

A group behind me spent the entire match shouting sarcastically every time the 3/4 they evidently aggressively dislike did something positive/right. It was getting to the point that I and a few around me could help cringing in embarrassment for them as they just sounded ridiculous.

As I've mentioned on another thread, one of this gang had a pop at Paynter a full one and a half minutes after he came on for "doing fuck all today".

Yet when Baxter flicked another lazy, complacent ball straight to an opponent, it was "unlucky" but also Chris "fucking" Porter's fault for not getting to it. Chris "Fucking" Porter was around 30 yards away.

We all have our favourite players and ones we aren't convinced about, but nothing winds me up more than blindly ignoring poor performances by ones you like and not giving the ones you dislike a chance.

One of the draws of football (well, I probably wouldn't go that far), is that generally speaking, every match is completely different, with differing levels of performance and skill. They aren't machines, they aren't all crap or brilliant every week - So why not base your comments and abuse based on what actually bloody happens on the day?

If we drop to the Sheffield Imperial Sunday League 4 we might see a win at Hillsborough

Basically, there is an element of Blades 'supporters' who haven't a clue - I always thought they sat near me but obviously this 'element' is larger than we think and there are pockets of them around the ground !
Whilst watching United sometimes seems a 'Life Sentence' being in the earshot of said morons makes it twice as bad!!

Does Morgan take any of the blame or is he only involved when we win?

Just thought I'd ask.

At the end of the day the team aren't good enough. You could argue that some of Clough's decisions on saturday were poor but that's by the by. This season we have dropped so many points due to downright fundamental mistakes. The likes of Porter and Hill just don't cut it for united and the players who are 'On Form' at the moment are only the best of a bad bunch in my eyes. We need a lot of changes and we're nearly half way through january. Like other blades fans have said... we have loaned out about half a dozen players and brought in a striker who is touching 30. Where are these funds that we have heard so much about? Sheffield United are in a relegation dogfight and need players who are gonna perform consistantly and not when they feel like it

Criticism of the abilities of footballers from someone adopting the name "Kozluk" is rather akin to Kim Jung-Il berating Robert Mugabe's record on human rights.

As to funds, they are available to be used, proportionately and sustainably. The JTW is still open for a while.

As ever our supporters are suffering from premature exasperation.

It's the Bladesfans' Way.

There seems to be logic in the argument that most clubs in League 1 see United as a scalp. Villa didn't, obviously. Where we've struggled all season is when teams have worked harder than us and kept it tight. In open games we generally look pretty decent. In games where the opposition have immediately closed us down in possession, we've looked like kids, so easily rocked and with no discernible skill. The damage this time is much deeper than after the woeful tenure of Robson. We're going to take a long time to heal from this.
