Was just wondering how the covid lockdown might have had a negative effect on some of the players mental health especially the ones from different towns and citys not been able to see family and close friends. Berge and this situation sticks out for me, young lad in a different country injured, also the younger members such as brew, bogle, lowe ect.
Apprieciated the life of a fooballer is the bollox but yea never know how some might feel when they get home and possibly be on there jacks, (if they follow the rules).
Surely this could have an impact on perfomances.

I'm sure it has mate. It's affected us all and no amount of money is preventing those negative emotions.
Sander deserves huge credit for taking it all on the chin and just cracking on. He seems unphased.

I've often wondered if he fits our system but would love us to find a way to accomodate him,or even build around him. His languid style is deceptive but I enjoy facets of his game.

Given his young years he seems very mature and focused. A great asset for someone handsomely paid. Mousse could learn a thing or two from Sander that's nowt to do with his feet.

I agree with all you say and really hope we can keep hold of sander to eventually build a team around this lad, that surely was the plan. The talented lanky strong midfielder is something weve not had for years but have cried out for. Viera back in the day bossed that possision.

This group under wilder has been big on spending time together outside football. They often mention they’re coffee club and going golfing together coupled with the fact I’ve seen them out in town together a fair bit. None of the lads signed since last January will have had this release/support and it’s probably making bonding/fitting in a very different experience.

It just takes a few minor adjustments, like having to do cocaine off your dining room table instead of the nightclub toilets, doing online gambling instead of the casino and forgoing high-class hookers for a pot noodle and a wank.
It's been a challenging year for us all 🙂

I attribute our post-restart, car crash form on the lockdowns.

Wilder allows relaxation when it came to socialising, the odd beer etc. to instill a team spirit. The feeling I get is that as long as it doesn't disturb the work in training or the expectations set, he'll let it slide. It fostered a good atmosphere and camaraderie amongst the players.

How do you keep that going when there's nothing to do?

i was just wondering how these 'bubbles' work in the footballing world too as rgs to if they can visit each other as they work together, i dont know pal, personally as a household we just do the best we can. I just hope the club keep it it tight and not let anyone fall by the wayside, especially the youth.

I’d imagine they’re on a pretty short leash regarding that as even though they work together they have to take precautions in work which would be impossible if you were round at someone’s house for example.

Totally agree and was thinking about Berge's situation when the club put up the video of his injury last week. He obviously arrived to much fanfare and then 6 weeks later, the World came to a pause. It must be hard for someone so young, with high expectations placed on them and living in a totally new country.

I do recall that he said he lives in the same apartment block as Baldock, so was in their support, so at least he's got some company outside of training. But still, not gone probably has it should have for him.

Except that Baldock's idea of fun is probably a 2hr HIT session

I think Berge has probably done ok. He looks like a self-contained, disciplined sort of lad. It is the Moose who suffered most, I think. And he wasn't in great shape before lockdown from all accounts

..and how are you coping with your new lifestyle ?

Snowflakes, suck it up. I’ve not seen my grandkids. Pass time counting money, having haircuts and going to accidental surprise parties.
...and this from someone who's already said they've had their own challenges with lockdown but is unwilling or simply unable or to acknowledge how others could also be effected.

Berge was 21 years old, alone in a foreign country that he'd just moved to, without being able to really leave the house, cant see your family, friends or even mix with your new work colleagues to build any relationships, but seemingly he's not worthy of sympathy.
Can't say I'm surprised coming from you, but still, what an unfeeling bitter old man you must be.

Seriously considering cutting my own, I'm starting to look like a Butlers ghost................

Never thought of the dining room table. Been doing my charlie off the outside bog. I put aftershave on to go out there though.

It doesn't matter how much money you have in the bank, or whether you are locked down or free to leave the house, shooting your load into a lukewarm, gelatinous, Bombay bad boy is one of life's greatest pleasures.

The serious part of me wants to acknowledge how tough it must be on some of the lads, especially some of the younger foreign players like Berge who are adapting to life in a new country. You can see across the board that Covid has impacted a lot of games (I keep reeling when I remember Villa put seven past Liverpool) and no doubt some of that is the mental side of things.

The other part of me wants to play the world's tiniest violin just for the footballers. They're going through no worse than the rest of us but they get to do it in a much nicer house.

Not a bad thing to be fair, gives some authenticity to the experience.
