Last 10 games top 3 players rated by us, the acid test. Only starting line-up players included!!:

Long MOM 4 times 2nd twice 3rd(equal) once
McEveley MOM once 2nd twice 3rd 3 times
Adams 2nd twice 3rd once 3rd equal once
Sharp 2nd twice 3rd once
Basham MOM once 3rd once
Flynn MOM once 3rd once
Hammond MOM once
Reed MOM once
Sammon MOM once
Baxter 2nd once
Cuvelier 2nd once
Brayford 2nd once
Baxter 3rd once
Collins 3rd once

Anything to glean from it other than I need to 'get a life'?!

Well it surprises me that Adams scores so well, good on' him.
Our keeper is in the game regularly.
McEveley was unfairly dropped last Saturday?
Flynn has done well on his recent return to the team.

There are so many players who play regularly and yet rarely or never figure.

Hope it's interesting.

Not bad analogy with the average mark out of 10 for 50 % of the players you list being 4.:)

You could have done all season and I doubt if Woolford would have got a mention.

It would indicate to me that Coutts is a complete waste of money.

Last 10 games: W3 D2 L5, virtually relegation form. Those are more telling scores relating to the last 10 games. We've scored 7 goals in these 10 games.

Our record against top 6 sides is now D4 L5 in 9 games. That is Weir-esque performance. Utterly pathetic.

I would keep about half of the star performers you list.

NGE.

What about the manager who seems to get more exempt from criticism the worst we get. Is it me , or are we all in the we've sacked too many managers in the past syndrome , so Adkins has to stop for next season . All will be well , because it cannot be any worst , or can it .

Yes, I wonder what Adkins's average score is over these last 10 games - I can't be arsed looking it up.

He seems to have lost the plot. We did get in touch by January and then proceeded to take 16 points from 14 games. I suspect a lot of players have been told they will be moving on which obviously doesn't help harmony and team effort. But he's tinkered and made things worse.

I really don't know what the solution is but I won't be bothered if he goes.

The manager (whoever it is) has a relatively clean sheet this summer to build something. We can't afford another fuck up.

It's so difficult to tell. Clough did fantastic in his first season and we all expected to go up in his second. But we didn't. Bassett did shit in his first season, got us relegated, after being shit at Watford.
Sometimes it just seems like a lottery.

You do need to get a life as you rightly say, makes no difference what so ever which player scores what, these facts are more important Played 10 Won 3, Drawn 2, Lost 5. and scored only 7 goals. So that's 11 points from 30, do not need to work out why Long is top of the pile.

Cheers Toledo, hadn't realised that, can't imagine why.

As for getting a life, I'm 68 years old and thankful I can still type, honestly I am.:)

I'd be surprised if all the posters that rated the players went to the matches. There seems to be quite a few who pass judgement on the team based on what Keith says.

Some of the people who do go to matches seem to base their votes on what Caveman Keith says.

I can't believe that is so. But if it is and extending the theme, then what's to stop Wednesdayites having a field day on our Forum just stirring up dissent, never going to games, just latching on to negativity on here and playing it out for all it's worth. Now I can believe that, because it's the only explanation for some of the crap on here from certain posters. Start to think like that and there's reason not to have a Forum.

Believe members who have not attended matches vote ratings then the whole Ratings section is a waste of time.WTF?

The reason you had not realised is the fact you are an Adkins fan, in fact in a previous thread you were asking if he was a messiah, which of course we now know he is not, far from it, but I have some good new for you 68 in the latest pole in the UK is considered not as old as you think, old age is when you reach 83 so great news for both of us as we can spar even longer. Take care. Health and happiness fellow Blades fan

It must be wrong as I can't see Coutts on it, and he has now had a pre-season.

Nothing to see here.

I'll insert that O.P. about Adkins. I intended it as a balanced rallying call; it certainly does not say that I'm an Adkins fan. It was written in mid-December.

Being a Blade is an emotional roller-coaster. No doubt about that. Nobody could write the script; never mind the Geordies, never mind Pompey, never mind even England National Team; nobody does disappointment better than SUFC.

Just reading this Fans Forum anybody can instantly see the turmoil of being a Blade.

If I was ever to utter a few wise words it would be: "SUFC needs a"Messiah", a history changer, a Brian Clough, a Bill Shankly".

Nothing less than that will do for this club to grow.

Survival has been achieved by a very ambitious Blade called Kevin McCabe who has lost over £50m as a conservative estimate, even if things turn out better.

Survival is an achievement now that the whole game has been stitched up by the big clubs.

What we need is a "Messiah". Somebody so exceptional that he can reverse the direction of history and change the course of the SUFC Supertanker which is heading inexorably towards oblivion; slow it down, change it's course and fuel it to propel forwards and upwards.

Is Adkins the man?

Personally, and I must add this is a personal view, he has made a poor start.

However, the man has a brilliant C.V .He has done it before; indeed he has been a demi-Messiah for Scunthorpe and Southampton.

What? Up to now he looks a "novice"? Of course he is not a novice.

Give the man time. I must say at this moment in time he does not bear any credibility whatsoever in terms of what we watch on the field, development of individuals and the group, an identified way of playing, an obvious style, no he doesn't bear any credibility.

However, this is football. The man has the best C.V. of any manager we have had since Bassett. The man is a winner. Let's support him 100% to the day he either succeeds or fails. What? Support a man until he fails? Well yes, there is merit in that too. Far more merit than jumping on the bandwagon to drive wedge after wedge into a man when things are not going exactly to plan.

Hey Blades fans. Are you prepared to step up and support someone rather than carry on as the harshest of critics/ fans. Fans maybe, but supporters, NO!!

I am a Sheffield United fan, therefore I support Adkins,

I'm pleased you remember the headline which was a good one. I always talk about needing a "Messiah" because that IMO is the size of the job at hand to dig us out of the hole and to reverse this relentless fall towards oblivion since 2007. I wondered whether Clough was the man previously and I hoped the prince would help as well.

One day our fortunes will reverse. Will Adkins be the Messiah? Perhaps we need to go through exactly what is happening to bottom out and then start to climb back up. Will it be Adkins? If the Board still think so all I hope for is that Adkins thinks so as well.

Thanks for the opportunity for me to repeat a very good post. Still relevant.
