We're just waiting for the Cardiff MOTM Poll to close before we calculate the statistical Player of the Month for August, but who would you say has impressed you the most during this first month of the campaign citing reasons and examples?

I'd have to say Sun Jihai. Captured on a free from Manchester City and slotted perfectly into the RB role. He had a mixed pre-season and some were worried about his temperament following a red card on the European tour but all he has shown in composure, good positional awareness and commitment. Yesterday was a perfect example, getting well stuck in with Killa was struggling to halt one of their counter-attacks.

Honourable mentions:

Matt Kilgallon - a rock at the back

Billy Sharp - still a long way to go, but looks hungry and an early hattrick can only add confidence

Gary Speed - the only redeeming feature of our central midfield

Prediction for next month:

Could the away game at the Emirates provide the perfect arena for Kyle Naughton to snatch some glory?

Will James Beattie come back to his best?

Player of the month
Well most (including myself) thought Sun was the weakest of our summer signings, however i did not believe him to be a commercial buy but i had no idea that he would have the impact that he has had, he is just amazing on the ball, his composure and awareness is premiership class, and if he continues to notch up performances like this, he will be a lane legend

Special Mentions

Sharp: Got of to a much better start, seems faster to me and gets at defenders more, lets hope he gets into double figures this season, he needs to stay conisitent in order to keep high up in the pecking order, with Beattie back, and hendo being impressive its going to be hard to keep a shirt if your a striker at the lane

Killa: This lad will play for england one day FACT he never seems to put a foot wrong and looks like hes hit the gym pre season, i think if he carries on playing like this, and we dont go up, he will go to a top 10 prem club like Villa or Birmimgham next season

Next monthThink it will be a midfielder to be honest, someone to really get us going, could be a new player or someone we already have, Cotterill :D

Sun Jihai has impressed me so much this month so he gets it for me! He's a good defender very solid and confident on the ball, can't really find a weakness in his game at the moment and hope he keeps it up

Killgallon has been brilliant aswell and also agree with linz about speed, for me he's the new stuart McCall but a better ball player his knowledge of the game is a great help and with a quality midfielder at the side of him would complete it.

Sharp is also working hard, looks to be holding the ball better than last season, lets hope he gets scoring more goals this year

Would have to be one of 3 for me.

Speed, Sun Jihai or Killa.....

But it goes to the "young" chinese man. He's played ever so well so far, and is becoming a Blades legend already.
