Who was the striker I think bassett bought him from newport county, tall striker who got sent off on his debut too i think?
cant get francis out of my head, but dont think that was his name.

It is Paul Williams. Made his debut at Leeds on 19/3/88 (L0-5) and was sent off in his second game - the 4-1 victory over Ipswich. Played a few games in 88-9 and then released. Failed to score a goal and was generally shit. Most famous for that miss against Bristol City in the play offs on 18/5/88

It's true about both! Betty Williams founded the Peace People in N Ireland and is still active on the international charity circuit.

Paul was born in Sheffield though. Mum was 20 at the time and I have no idea what she was doing in Sheffield
 
The worst player I've seen in a Blades shirt. His 'performance' against Bristol City in that relegation (for us) play-off being the height of his non-achievement.

Probably have to go with Williams as the worst though.
 
I think Bobby Gould signed Paul Williams for WBA & paid some daft fee of £750k. There was another Paul Williams who played for the pigs around the same time & I'm pretty sure Gould signed the w
