The more you think about it, the less sense our squad actually makes.
Instead of buying players to fit into a system, we seem to have just bought the best players we could. Not thinking about where they'd play. Expecting them to just all play together.
Let's start at the back. We play 4 at the back yet we've brought in a LWB (McCallum) and RWB (Clarke). We've bought in a RCB (Gilchrist) and then expect him to be comfortable going forward as a FB. We've loaned a CB (Holding) who can play in a back 3 but we play with 2 CBs.
In midfield, we've brought in a utility player (Shackleton) who seemingly can't play anywhere, a AMC (O'Hare) who we're playing on the wing, An attacker/left forward (BBD) who we play on the wrong wing, a winger (JRS) who seems to get asked to come inside.
Up front, we have paid £10 million for a striker (Cannon) who plays in a two to play as a lone striker. We have a tall target man (Moore) who needs to play in a two, who is played on his own. We did sign one striker (Campbell) who can play as a lone striker but we do sometimes play him in a two.
Was there any plan here?!
