Chaps,

Aren't we supposed to be excited, positive, confident about going into the Play-Offs? Don't know about you lot, I can't wait till this awful season ends. The Play Offs are prolonging the agony and adding to the frustration and disappointment. After another poor offensive performance tonight at Crewe, got no confidence what's so ever.

i've not felt this deflated about Blades ever i don't think!! just can't see any light at all. very sad indeed. Play-offs will not be enjoyable for me at all. It would be very embarassing next season if we somehow went up.

I HATE PLAY OFFS I'VE BEEN TO TWO AND MY DADS BEEN TO AROUND 5 AND HE'S NEVER SEEN US SCORE IN ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeh looking nailed on to be Friday night so all we can do is hope for the best. Need to win on Saturday for a boost of confidence and try and score a few to win the fans round and then hopefully we can get at least a 2-0 lead in the home leg otherwise i feel we may be struggling. Certainly need to carry a win into the second leg

Yes very deflated indeed, if we did manage to go up you are right it will be embarrassing to watch.
We have to let most of these players go they are just not good enough, talking about league one here.
Well a win against Preston at home to try and get us into a positive mood for the playoffs, but I can see us losing both playoff legs at this rate.
Who ever we face they will be very confident to face us.
but fingers crossed as always!

The season is over.

I realised that trunching away from BDTBL after the Crawley game. There was a very brief revival for the Swindon game, but that quickly burnt out. This hapless, uninterested bunch have no chance of winning the play offs.

The only consolation for whoever does not go up between Brentford and Bournemouth is that they will play soft touch SUFC and easily beat us in the semi's. Even a terribly deflated Doncaster Rovers would easily brush aside this crap Blades team.

It definaltely has a feeling of going down under Adams. You know what is going to happen and just watch the turgid garbage in slow motion. It is excutiating painful, but you cannot avert your gaze.

The players don't care, the fans don't care, nobody gives a shit. Time will go on, and we will watch are once great football club stumble and fall and then stumble some more, until just like christ, it resurrects. The problem is that this resurrection all joking aside looks as though it could take a decade to appear. Its a sad sad time at SUFC.

If we're not going to win them, which is almost certainly going to be the case, then I just hope we lose in the semi final so we don't have to waste all that money again going to watch us at Wembley. Depending on the price of the tickets, I might not even bother going to the home leg of the semi.

Bournemouth are up already, I think.

always wondered, who is the "other guy" in that photo?

Does anyone else think that the other 3 teams will be getting excited at the prospect of the play offs?

Whereas we don't just dislike them, we absolutely hate them.

I think if we (somehow) managed to win them, it would be completely undeserved and would show the play offs up for what they really are.... A load of shite.

My personal opinion is that the team is so low on confidence that we won't even put up a fight in the two legged semis. I'm sure this'll be a good thing too as it means that there will be no excuses for the players this summer. They can have a nice holiday, get out for a bank holiday weekend in Rhyl and do what the fcuk they like! They can then return refreshed (and with police charges over their heads) ready to make an assault on L1 for a third year running and cement that mid table position next season

The players don't care, the fans don't care, nobody gives a shit.

But as we proved against Swindon and Brentford, the fans do care and are just desperate for something - anything - to cheer. Agree with Ollie - it feels exactly like a couple of years ago when you just want the season to end.

All firmly down to McCabe, this. If Ched hadn't got banged up and we'd have gone into the Championship last year, McCabe would have promptly sold him. Same this year, expect 'offers' for McFazdean/Ironside etc. (which, of course, we'll never get the truth about) and they'll be gone.

The Third Division this season has been shit. So far we've got 74 points out of a possible 135 and (somehow) we're in the play-offs!

The death spiral continues. We'll haemorrage 4-5k fans over the summer, and unknown (but compliant) 'manager' will be brought in (to be replaced around Christmas) and this great club will sink further. We deserve far better than this.

Thought so. If, as I expect, Brentford claim second place, it's a dreadfully poor semi-final line-up isn't it? They ought to call it a shite-off this year.

The shame of losing in the playoffs to any of those potential opponents will live with us for a very long time!

Ticket prices should be a quid all in for the home leg of the semis! Not worth payin no more!

Yep, I meant to say Brentford in my earlier post. They play Donny at home on Saturday. A home win would see Brentford up, any other result would see Doncaster take 2nd. It should be some match. If Donny get beat (which I think they will) then they will be deflated as fuck. Being top for the most part of the 2nd half of the season, only to drop out of the top 2 on the last day would be a blow. However I would expect them to sail past our bunch of wankers in the semi's. The best we can hope for is that Rovers are so dejected, that we can somehow limp past them into the final (Brentford would batter us). We'll then have another goaless (for us at least) and embarassing play off final defeat to either Yeovil or Swindon. Fuck me, Yeovil town may be heading to the Championship ahead of us. And I agree with Pinchy what a shite play off line up (bar Brentford not winning on Sat-di and finishing 3rd).

It's all just new levels of embarrassment isn't it?

I just cannot face another POF - just no chance - won't do it.
Not even bothered if we got there and won it while I am not there - just can't be arsed - won't mean anything - it's a fucking third division play off FFS.

Yeovil, Brentford, Swindon, Donny - what a bunch of no name clubs to feel inferior to?
Fuck me dry!

If, as expected, Brentford take second, we will be in the play offs against 3 teams with a grand total of 1 year (Swindon in 93-94) in the top division compared to our 60.

Also, the average attendances of Yeovil, Doncaster and Swindon put together is only just higher (19,837) than ours (18,553). For fuck's sake, Yeovil's is not even a quarter of ours (4071) and they are likely to finish above us.

Thats how low we have sunk.

I've just done a few sums;

In round numbers United's average crowd is 18,500 and Yeovil's is 4000. Let's take that figure as teh basis of the club's turnover (I know there will be other income streams that add to turnover, but that shouldn't effect proportions).

Assuming an average ticket price of £20 per game and 23 games, that means United's turnover is £8,510,000 and Yeovil's £1,840,000.

Applying the 65% rule, that means United have £5,531,500 to spend on players wages and Yeocil £1,196,000. If we assume a first team squad of 20 that means the average wage United can pay is £2765.75 per week and Yeovil's is £598 - i.e. our players will be on roughly four times the wages of the Yeovil players.

How in any rational universe can Yeovil finish above us?
