Perhaps the club should try to encourage fans for a potential trip to Wembley by making the last home game and the play off leg a £20 ticket. If by some miracle the team find form and put on a great display, fans may then want to attend Wembley.

not going even if they are free tickets (in the superstitious belief that if i don't go they might win)

Those useless cunts don't deserve any support. We should pull out of the play offs and give the 3rd placed team a pass through to the final.

Either that or pelt the bastards with rotten fruit and veg when they run out on the pitch.

it would be a good time for fans to not go.
a 7,000 gate would really tell the board weve had enough of this shite.
but...you just know theyll be 20,000 lapping up the propaganda.
seasons over for me. i may even not go to preston. ive never hated a blades team so much, its one thing being
crap but this team just isnt actually turning up. barely a player in the squad who even cares.
lap of honour anybody??

I tried that last season, it didn't work, so I've taken myself out of the same continent.

In fairness though, I think the lack of form since Xmas has been because I've not managed to make a single game in 2013.

They may as well go the other way and charge fifty quid a ticket as we're pretty much down to the x thousand who will go no matter what. Anyone else has pretty much turned their backs now.

My missus has bought us tickets as a birthday treat for me (dont laugh)so I guess we'll both be there lapping up the propaganda

I remember reading on the Monday after the Sunderland playoff home game in 1998, another season in which we staggered over the line in the end, that our attendance of 23,800 odd was disappointing given we were playing for a place in the PL. I thought "they wouldn't say that if they knew what we've had to put up with this year".

This season is the same. The owner has taken leave of his senses, some of the players have given up, and no one can blame the fans for giving up to.

Like 1998, we have no chance, although back then it was because they were a juggenaut and we had sold all our good players. This year, even our better players are playing badly. Whether there will be a dead cat bounce in the lst leg, as there was then, remains to be seen, but I am not hopeful.

IT'S ALL your fucking fault , knew it , don't blame the team , tactic's, manager, rubbish signings, the team has lost it's MOJO because swizzlers not in town , { Yeah Baby Yeah } choclate munchin, ex-tax dodger. We could have got promoted if you'd stayed put . ;) . task.

Me too (thought your missus didn't buy me them). We could get some "we're all Blades" T-Shirts made up.

To be fair, even after having sold our best players in 1997-98, we could still put out the decentish looking team in the play offs of:

Kelly

Borbokis
Holdsworth
Sandford
Quinn

Devlin
Marker
Stuart
Woodhouse

Saunders
Marcelo

Sunderland had of course got the never to be equalled (!!) 90 points without automatic promotion, so I think our in the end relatively narrow defeat (as I recall we were desperately unlukcly not to score in the second half in the 2nd leg), owes more to them being very good than us being crap.

I also think our stumbling "over the line" in 1998 had a lot to do with the backlog of fixtures caused by our run to the semi-final of the cup.

In other words 1997-98 is light years away from this season....

Yup, Sunderland went 2 up in about 30 mins, putting them 3-2 up on aggregate. As I remember it we had 2 or three gilt edged chances in teh second half to take it to ET.

I also remember the last minute of the first leg us having a 3 vs 1 defender plus a goalkeeper break-away and whoever it was that broke chose the wrong person to pass to. A goal there might have made teh 2nd leg very interesting...

And regarding the ticket prices, I would imagine the Football League would have to agree on the price structure too. Don't forget the whole point of the play-offs was to generate more excitement*.

The problem with that team is that both Borbokis and Quinn were good wing backs but poor full backs.
As well as key players getting injured (Whitehouse, McGrath, Tiler) or sold (Deane, Fjortoft, Hutchison) we also abandoned the 3-5-2 formation that had been successful early on and switched to 4-4-2 under Thompson.
We had future Euro Championship winning centre-half Tri Dellas sat on the bench for both legs and for my money he would have been the ideal replacement for McGrath in the "spare man at the back" role.

Tracey (Kelly was injured)
Holdsworth Dellas Sandford
Borbokis Devlin Marker Stuart Quinn
Taylor Saunders
Subs:- Woodhouse, Marcelo

If we'd gone with this team, things could still have been different in the FA Cup and Play-Off Semi's.

Without playing the 'massive' thing, we face the prospect of playing Yeovil, Brentfod, Swindon or Donny. Hardly Sunderland is it!

Tracey (Kelly was injured)
.

Yes, Kelly got injured at the 4-2 home defeat to WBA. At half time Kelly asked his players not to backpass the ball to him because his leg had "gone". Not long after the start of the 2nd half, Chris Wilder had forgotten Kelly's instruction and passed the ball to Kelly but Lee Hughes was quick to take advantage of the pass and scored. Tracey played in goal for the rest of the season despite getting two black eyes in the Cricketers after the WBA game (he was helping out Billy Whitehurst in stopping a fight)

That's not the story I heard about ST's black eyes....

Aye, nothing to do with selling our top scorer?

It'll be the lap of shame :p with fans sticking the two fingers at them!

I'm going to put it out there and say that something is bothering you about the sale of Nick Blackman. You need to make your feelings known in a more obvious way ;)

Have you got psychic powers or something?
