If the goal not given to Real Madrid last night had been, say, Salah putting it in the net - we'd also never have heard the last of it. It would have been UEFA corruption. There'd be a vigil outside the Liver building right now.

However... in that case it was unusual for Real Madrid to be on the wrong side of VAR, because it favours the big clubs in every way, everywhere it's used. There are, occasionally, instances where the powerful bloc have decisions in their favour overturned but those have to be so blatant it's like the old boxing maxim of a fighter from outside Chicago having to get a knock out to earn a draw.

VAR has been the perfect way to subtly manipulate games, because there is no consistency applied at all, and as the majority of decisions are open to interpretation - including offside "lines", it's possible to use the VAR console to either validate or overturn the decision that doesn't fit what's required.

As for having VAR for the final... No. It ruins the integrity of the competition (the competition being the league). You play 48 games with the call of the ref, why change that on game 49? Why? Both penalties were penalties. If there is any doubt (and why shouldn't there be, both of them suggested contact?) then that's what your VAR is for. How the twat in Stockley didn't look at his multiple monitors and at least call the ref to the pitchside is a fucking farce.

Clear case of waving the favourite through, by any means. There has been some fucking schonky happenings going on recently, no more than Man City miraculously switching on at 0-2 down with the betting world cashing in on the bindippers taking the PL trophy.
