Play off final kick off time - 3PM

Rail engineering works are often planned years in advance and scheduled when the required equipment/teams are available - The current midland mainline upgrades are scheduled over a number of weekends (9/10 I think) and so when planned years ago it wouldn't have been justifiable to move the whole schedule on the off chance a Sheffield team (or Derby/Forest/Leicester) were in the play off final this year.

If they could only plan engineering works on weekends when nothing is happening in London their options of when to do the work would be incredibly limited.
We’ve got trips to London planned in July and there are no direct trains on Saturdays even in July due to rail works.

The League 1 final (Sunday) and League 2 (following week) kickoffs are set.
League 1 only has one team confirmed and League two could be any of four.
How has that all been confirmed but us and Sunderland just over a week away can't be? Doesn't make any sense and just adds to the disgraceful behaviour.
It's got to be down to Sky, and I hope they get a full ground, full volume rendition of the Sky anthem.

EFL are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard on the surface of the bloody sun......
Not just EFL though is it ?

Moving 70,000 people gong the same way after the game especially when there are limited trains to get 1,000s of them back

Yup very true.
Back in the day when the FA cup final use to be at 3pm, it was never a problem, I suppose though TV money does the talking for the EFL.

Report on bbc Calendar says “they hope to announce kick off time in the next few days”

I recon they’re looking at ways to null and void our result against Bristol and put Frank Lampard’s Coventry through instead

And TV money doesn't just exist in some vacuum. More people will watch later

Movement of 70,000 on the same roads and rail after the game is the issue not before
At the moment there are not enough trains to move 1000s from two different teams goinv the same way on the same trains also no direct trains to Sheffield due to maintenance work

Cant be sky holding it up...there's no other games on, so any time works for their schedule, i'd imagine 430/5/530 would be their preference. Seems very odd

As I said elsewhere from the last game of the season they knew the possible permutations of who’d be playing surely they didn’t wait until Wednesday to start to plan this?
All they needed to do was sit down and look at all the alternative matchups and come up with a basic plan including kick off time for each of them. Its called contingency planning isn’t it?
It’s a complete piss take now.

And why were the L1 and L2 times already been set when they don’t know who’ll play.

There’s really no excuses given these events have been happening at that current stadium now for almost 20 years.

Of course we know the real reason will be TV meddling.

I reckon EFL are going to carry on kicking the can down the road and never announce a KO time. The game never gets played and next season is a league of 26 teams with us and Sunderland given a 2 point head start.

The EFL have heard that we won't sell out, so they're going to move it all to the Stadium of Light to think of the passionate Sunderland Fans.

All these services have had plenty of time. This isn't the first big event at Wembley.

This is where the problem is
Sheffield -London
All trains to London on the Saturday via Doncaster
90% of trains into Doncaster for London via Newcastle
Meaning it’s likely those getting on in Sheffield might not be able to get on a train in Doncaster anyway
But what difference is the kick-off time moving between 3 and 5.30 going to make to any of that?

Exactly, doesnt impact on a kick off time. Unless they are arranging football specials from Sheffield via Donny and the logistics of that???

If you are struggling to get a ticket and can get to Wembley anytime on the 24th, here's your chance to win a couple of tickets:

Wembley is waiting - just like the fans
