No direct train from Sheffield on May 24th.Forget the Sheffield-Doncaster, then train to King's Cross down the East Coast mainline.
It will be packed with Sunderland supporters getting on at Newcastle. Hull trains are very doubtful. Sunderland supporters again.
The only other option is Sheffield to Manchester, then train to London via Birmingham, and get off at Watford Junction. Then the train to Wembley Central.
Another option is to go by coach. Either the coach, you can book on the Blades website. You can go on a coach from Pond Street or Meadowhall.
If you can afford it, go down on Friday and return on Monday. If you're going by car, Watford Junction car parks are nearby. Best to look on the internet and book in advance as soon as you can. Or park on the outskirts of London near a tube station.UTB
Still (a few) tickets available, especially (obviously?) on the trains originating in Bradford
eg 10:24 gets in @ 12:01 - 37 quid
The (even) bigger ball-ache will be the return when (nearly) all journeys for us & them depart from Kings Cross
Numerous folk I know up here also have the intention of Watford Junction / outskirts near tube station ‘option’ so as you say, likely to be ‘busy’
Parking @ Beaconsfield station may be worth considering 20 minutes direct to the stadium (2 or 3 stops) can be booked on Chiltern Railways
Seer Green or Gerard’s Cross even closer /quicker on same line

As an aside I’m unclear why Gerrard is cross - maybe someone intended (& failed) to trip him up?🤔

One of my friends works at Sky, earlier on said he'd spoken to the EFL to ask about the kick off time: "I rang them about this last week and they said it was because they were talking to stakeholders".

Could be quite a few off work and school if its the Friday.

Get your sickie voices ready for Friday morning 😂

Hope the national papers are onto it tomorrow

Are they expecting a vampire attack?

You won't get off the platform at Euston without a ticket. Can't comment on St Pancras/Kings X

That's one of my stops when I'm off to head office before hitting the tube. No chance without a ticket as they man the gates pretty stringently at St Pancras/Kings X.

For what it's worth, I did get a reply from the Shadow Sports Secretary (...and the only shadow sport I can think of is shadow boxing 😆):

Thank you for copying me into your email to the EFL.

The confusion around the kick-off time has indeed caused real and avoidable disruption for supporters, and I agree with you that it is unacceptable that fans are being asked to commit to tickets and travel without even knowing what time the match will take place.

As Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, I’ve already taken steps to raise this matter with the EFL on behalf of fans.

I note that the Minister for Sport has also been copied into this email, and I sincerely hope she takes this issue seriously and follows our lead by seeking immediate answers from the EFL.

Thank you again for raising your concerns with me.

With best wishes,

Stuart

And so it goes on. This is absolutely ridiculous now. There is no excuse that could possibly explain this

We’re being doubly shafted as Blades as it’s already harder than usual to travel there to the EMR service being fully out.

Do they not check for major events happening when they schedule these engineering works? I seem to recall there was similar the other year when Man City - United played at Wembley. The west coast line was out of action.

I think the game will be postponed till December.
As fans we can't expect to be treated reasonably.
They gotta thing about the ££££'s.

Rail engineering works are often planned years in advance and scheduled when the required equipment/teams are available - The current midland mainline upgrades are scheduled over a number of weekends (9/10 I think) and so when planned years ago it wouldn't have been justifiable to move the whole schedule on the off chance a Sheffield team (or Derby/Forest/Leicester) were in the play off final this year.

If they could only plan engineering works on weekends when nothing is happening in London their options of when to do the work would be incredibly limited.

Just more proof that the EFL and PL don't give a toss about supporters, and haven't for years

And the 2 clubs will stay silent on it

Modern day football. Being thrown crumbs to scoff while the money men eat a Michelin quality meal at the table, and you be damn well grateful for it

I got the same

Got until 11pm today to keep/cancel/rearrange current hotel booking, which is contingent on kick off time.

Also booked travel plans, which similarly may need rearranging.

Absolute shambles.

It's a pain in the arse, we have just decided to arrange travel plans to get there quite early. I don't mind mooching around till... Well who the fuck knows, and we're requesting early check in with the place we're staying although we're pretty much banking on it not being a 3pm kick off time.

It could be absolute bollocks by my theory is with Sunderland having to travel most of the length of the country they wouldn't stick it at 3pm. I understand organising a match at Wembley isn't a 20 minute job but surely they're yknow, familiar with the process. I would bet everything they're waiting for confirmation for some ridiculous pointless thing before confirming the time. Like waiting to see when they supplier of red and white balloons can get them there on the day or something stupid like that.
