Pitch invasion on sunday?

That's not how it works though is it? If we had lost at Villa that doesn't mean we would have won at Notts County or Walsall.

I want United to win every game they play in, end of. I'm a bit confused by the logic.....does winning in the cup make you less equipped to win games in the league?

Ask the players

Normally I would agree with you on this, however the results since the Villa game show we don't need any added distractions

See I don't think it is a distraction at all. We lost to Walsall before it and haven't won the two games afterwards. I hate this seemingly modern day opinion that the cup is a distraction.

Maybe we lost at Walsall because we had one eye on Villa? Murphy was rested for the Walsall game after all.

We lost at Walsall because of the phantom foul penalty.

In both the Walsall and Notts County games we started brightly and looked up for it so really don't think mentality or attitude was a problem and we had plenty of days rest in between.

Agree with a lot of things you post Sheffielder but not with you on this.

Are you happy to beat Fulham and be too tired to turn over Peterborough?

I want them to win both and they should be able to. Playing two games in a week isn't a new thing for professional footballers.

Winning a big cup tie should inspire them and give them enough to play a good game 2 or 3 days later.

At this point I would prefer not to play the game, never mind not win or lose it. I see the game as a distraction.

Tough tits then. We have to play the game.

As I see it

Win-Win is better than
Lose-Win
Win-Lose
Lose-Lose

But I don`t see anything that says that, a Win after a Loss is any more likely than a Win after a Win...

I am saying that the players were more 'up' for a game against Villa than they were for Walsall and County.

Is the Peterborough game going to be another come down from playing Fulham on TV on Sunday. It's not just as simple as win win, lose lose, win draw when you are talking 2 different types of game

I reckon we should play the Juniors in all Cup competition and away games. Let's forget all these distractions.

Save our glorious boys simply for home games, make sure they stay in the hotel the entire week prior to games and build a moving walkway between there and the players entrance so as not to tire them on match day. They should enter the field of play by sedan chair whilst being fanned by selected supporters to keep them at optimum temperature at all times. If we can extend half time to 30 minutes so they can fit in a full body massage and sauna then all the better.
I really don't know why we should expect them to perform for more than 90 minutes every couple of weeks, it's almost slavery.

Wrong!
In my mind we need to win every game in whatever the competition.

To say we need to only be concentrating on the league because we are near the bottom puts negativity to the fore.

Lets win what we can, cause any upsets that we can and bring money into the club that a good cup run will bring in.
We need that winning mentality back. A good cup run could help us.

As professionals they should be 'up' for each game when the game comes around.
Failure to be 'up' for it is a failure of the player and the management team.
In reality it should be one type of game

Let's not have a cringeworthy pitch invasion on Sunday, please.

However, if we draw Wendy in the next round...

I don't think that's the case. What's more likely, though, is that the fact that the pressure was off along with the fact that Villa were expected to do all the running made the difference. The pitch at Villa Park definitely helped too, it was a carpet compared to the Lane and Meadow Lane.

When we played Villa we were able to play to our strengths; league games are different as we have to make the running and some of our players struggle with that. This is particularly true when it comes to counter attacking.

Oh and in response to the OP: I'll be truly embarrassed to be a Blade if there's a pitch invasion on Saturday. It's not a big game.

Barely given the cup game a thought. All my Blades-related thoughts are on the league and bringing some new players in! If we have any players with even slight knocks, we should rest them at the weekend and get them ready for the far more important Peterborough game.

See I don't think that's the case at all. United went to Villa with a game plan and the opposition's approach suited how we had set our stall out. As a result we came under far less pressure than we had against, for example Bradford on Saturday.

In all of our last four games we looked up for it from the off. What the players don't seem to be dealing with very well is a little 'upanatem' from the opposition, especially when we're trying to play on the front foot in games, which in the league we're more likely to.

The Fulham fans may want to try...and if they do...meet the notorious SUFC steward Tactical Aid Group...and I hope the stewards knock their heads off..no one among Blades will be celebrating on Sunday...

If there is a pitch invasion then the invading dickheads need locking up. Preferably after falling down the police station steps a few times.
Oooh now now..lets be nice to the poor lads eh...only celebrating after all..once i was in a queue at Colchester and a steward said whats in yer bag.....fast forward half an hour...and he chucked him out..punch... drone..blah....my bag..unfair....wrong..............
but yeah..i agree shorehamview.....
