Seeing KL's photos of the pitch being re-layed set me thinking. When we got promoted last time, didn't they take about a yard of each side of the pitch? So is this an opportunity for us to reverse this, and to once again become one of the widest pitches in the league? - and do we trust our wide players enough for us to do this??

The pitch dimensions is up to the manager anyways, so it depends on what style he wants to play in future games. He tells the groundsmen how hard he wants the pitch, how long he wants the grass....so I don't see it being changed to a wider pitch.

I think that's the point though. St Neil had a wide pitch for years before it was narrowed for the Premiership season to try and contain everyone else's wide players, but hasn't been widened since. If we want to be playing with wingers (which I've been banging on about for ages), then it would make sense to widen the pitch again.

Do we have an actual left winger - as opposed to players who can hug that line if needs be? Perhaps we should just widen Cotterill's side :D

Happy birthday for tomorrow HH

Well, I think I'm the furthest left-winger round these parts, but I doubt if I'd get a game ;)

Just having a warm-up for tomorrow's festivities  :drunk: :gallop:

Happy anniversary for tomorrow as well SD

Id say a wider pitch would suit us better.

A yard? You mean two to three yards!

Yeah... the pitch was moved inwards from the John Street by quite a substantial amount.

I'd say there was only a matter of a few yards to play with... because the touchline at the South Stand site is fairly tight to the edge of the technical areas.

I always thought that from last season, we've stuggled to break down so many poor teams at the lane with the lack of width and space being evident.

I really don't know why its not been put back to how it was before the Premiership season.

I wouldn't mind as much, but SD's season ticket is right next to mine, and we more or less look down that touchline! He should know it's a lot more than a yard!

Didn't the pitch come in a bit when John Street was rebuilt too?
