With the change to a back 3 at the end against Boro, signing Ogbene who can play RWB and the fact we now have loads of CBs perhaps there will be a change in formation?

Cooper
Tanganga Mee Godfrey
Ogbene Peck Soumare Burrows
Hamer COH
Campbell

Davies, McG, Bindon, McCallum, Seriki, Matos, Barry, Chong, Ings

Or

Cooper
Godfrey Tanganga Mee Burrows
Peck Soumare
Ogbene. COH. Hamer
Campbell

Love your XI Graphman

Rock solid Back 3, protected by a hard DM

Wide WB’s going down the outside on their strong side - none of this inverted crap.

Gus & Cal weaving complex magic and feeding 2 genuine strikers.

Hard to break down but also hard to stop - the perfect set up.

UTB & FTP!

I think a fair few of our recent signings are to add strength in depth, decent options for the bench rather than with a view to being clear starters. That was much needed as our bench has been very low quality so far this season. Tanganga, Mee and Godfrey are the ones I expect to be regular starters amongst the most recent recruits.

------------Cooper
Godfrey Tanganga Mee Burrows
------- Peck ---Soumaré
Brooks---- O'Hare---Hamer
----------Campbell

Selles teamtalk should simply be "just do whatever Wilder said back in the good ol' days before he got obsessed with Brewster and (checks he's not listening) Cannon"
Chong, Ogbene, Barry and Ings all on the bench if this attack doesn't deliver. Matos can get a look in if Soumaré turns out to be bobbins.
If Chong or Barry ever put in a decent shift from the bench, could look to bring Hamer more central, until then I'm "better the devil you know" and prefer Hamer out there where he performed fantastically last season.

Ogbene has been out for 7 months with an achilles injury, is he really just going to waltz in this team ahead of Brooks? If he's capable of that I'll be thrilled but certainly not expecting much from him, if he was much use Ipswich would've kept him surely?

Bit of an odd 'elbow' formation. When we're defending becomes an orthodox for with Burrows dropping in to let back and Godfrey to right back. When we're attacking Burrows to push on and Godfrey to move across to forum a back three.

There are loads of options now. Obvious back ups to most. A second eleven should be competitive at this level (except maybe Adam Davies)...

Davies
Seriki-McGuiness-Bindon-McCallum
Barry-Blaster-Chong-Peck-Ukaki
Ings

And that's leaving out a third XI I would think would be OK for league one (including Davis who should be challenging for first team if he's ever fit).

Faxon
Curtis, Nils, Sausenakus, Polendakov
Davies, Marsh, Shackleton, Nwachukwi
Canon, and One.

We've signed 14 players (majority are decent) and you start 4?! We need better than last season's players.

He's had a full pre season and played in Ipswich's first few games.

We don't need better than last seasons players though (except Robinson upgrade). We'd have been fine if Wilder hadn't got obsessed with Brewster and Cannon. All he had to do was stick with Rak-Sakyi and O'Hare and replace Souttar properly in the JTW and we'd have either got autos or ran amok at the play-off final.

There's really no need to make wholesale changes to an attack that helped us get 92 points last season - just change the manager to one who can get them to play right.

Re Ogbene - apparently he didn't look too good in those 2 appearances this season - hence them sending him out on loan.Hope he comes good but i'm not clamouring for him to be a starter just yet. Are you confident we've adequately replaced Choudhury or Souza? In honesty I'm not, but we live in hope.

Too difficult to know what Selles’s is going to do? As long as he puts round pegs in round holes then hopefully this squad is going to start moving in the right direction?

So we must be playing 3 at the back - I'm hoping it will be Godfrey, Tanganga and Mee. I'd like to see Seriki and Burrows as Wing-backs. The holding midfielder should be Matos. Wide midfielders should be Hamer and Ogbene. which means O'Hare/Peck in midfield (depending on how adventurous we want to be) with Campbell up top.

Surely Chong, Binden, Barry, Brooks, Soumare, Cannon and Ings are the bench warmers.

Obviously it could be Godfrey at RWB with McGuinness at CH.

He’s played twice this season

I like Campbell when he's on it. but he's looked increasingly disinterested this season.
When Ings came on, he put himself about way more than Campbell had done, so for now he gets the nod up front from me.

Arblaster in CM for Peck providing he comes back as he was with Barry and Brookes off the bench for energy.
Ogbene will get minutes as can play anywhere down the right
Basing this on a presumption that Soumare is far better than what we have seen so far. This may come back to bite me.

Well he's had his pre-season and is currently on International duty

He's in the Republic of Ireland squad for this weeks International matches so I assume he is fit.

That's easy

We've got a solid looking squad again it seems.

1 thing is for certain, we need 2x CDMs... or a "double pivot" as the cool kids call it.

The number of bodies we now have in though gives us some good options.

Back to basics in terms of shape, but hopefully with more energy & pressing than we had last year.

Give Hamer back a free role high up in the pitch where he can cause damage & O’Hare can press from the front (could also argue Hamer central & Barry on the left).

Get Burrows bombing on outside of Hamer and getting crosses in, something he didn’t do enough of last year. Godfrey then allows us to keep a solid back three when attacking. Mee/McGuiness can hopefully do the Souttar ‘head it & kick it’ role while Tanganga mops up. Peck hasn’t become a bad player overnight, let him get back to his familiar role & Matos gives us more protection in the middle.

We then have decent options on the bench to freshen it up: Ings, Barry, Brooks, Chong, One, Soumare & Seriki.

One things for certain, there's going to be some very disappointed players on match day, unless of course we lose one or two.
He's brought in 6 centre halves and 2 holding central midfielders!
Add to that Arblaster and Davies returning and there's a few who will not feature, the forest lad Bindon must be wondering why he came because it looks like he's already dropped down the list, let's all hope the manager has chosen well because the owners have backed him, let's draw a line under the season so far and start again after the international break.
