Phipps Speaks!

Actually, we might be pleasantly surprised KG, we don't actually know the outcome, our "approach" for Parkinson might be a smoke screen. The delay could be tactical to exit our Karl from his contract and Jim (a Yank who are natural sales and negotiation specialist) is firmly in charge and keeping fans on board.

If HRH can chuck a million squid at the pitch and pay off NC's team he means business and will buy us who we need. It won't be in his interest to go cheap, fail and have to go home defeated. It's the new Bladey Blade way!

Give our board and management team some credit.

But let them come home with Parkinson and I'm on the keyboard all season (unless he turns out to be the new Alex Ferguson and I'll claim credit for supporting their choice) that's the old Bladey Blade way
The bradford chairman has said we have approached them though?

I can only think that the Parkinson rumour is intended purely so that when they do make the usual underwhelming appointment, people will console themselves that, it could be worse, it could've been Phil Parkinson :(

Good grief don't say that, please!

You all read far too much into statements. Talk about putting 2 and 2 together to make 5.

No one has a clue. That's the first clear thing. The second quite probable thing is that we have approached more than one person and are talking with more than one. Given the comments from several parties that seems a fairly good bet. When Jim says they're taking time to secure the best deal I read that as they're working on the best candidate for the best price and I would expect no less.

Chill and wait.

I thought Mike "compulsory reading" Stephenson said it would definitely be today or tomorrow?
He hasn't got a Scooby. I don't think any of the ITK'ers have on this occasion. At least we can give the Internet a breather over the weekend. I get more agitated by supposed insiders suggesting it will be a) and then in turns out to be completely different. For our sanity, and there own, they should also give it a rest.

Am I the only one on here who reads this and thinks 'ok, thanks for the heads up Jim. I guess you understand how we feel then'.

Not 'it's the blades way, we've funked up again, Warnock knocked us, Bassett was busy and Parkinson is picky. Oh and we've sold the gold, trained a rapist and the pitch is actually made of glass fibre'

Come on boys and girls, if Jimbo Baggpus didn't have our best interests at heart he wouldn't have sacked NC.

Now, where's that red wine gone?

I also think it was a very good statement . At least the club are communicating with the fans , and who better to do it that JP. It does appear that the board before the meeting had no intention of sacking Clough , but did to him what he has done to numerous players throughout the season. The board and Clough must have been polls apart in the discussions and vision for taking SUFC forward next season.

No new manager has been lined up and negotiations will be ongoing with board , manager , agents , solicitors , contracts , managers family etc.

You can look at two ways - either the board are bumbling along or carrying out due diligence to get the right man. This time i hope its the latter.

The right guy has got to be Robinson or Adkins , but it wouldn't surprise me , even if it was someone completely off the radar.

It sometimes is used to the other manager in the frame , of , look make your mind up , you are either joining or not , we cant wait forever , we have other irons in the fire. The contact with Bradford may well have done this.

All good, until I read the last sentence, which with our board is extremely concerning! :(

Phipps' statement says nothing about why we changed our stated three year plan so drastically. It also confirms that there was no one lined up for us when we sacked Clough.

OK, those who supported his sacking will point to an inability to sign the right players, poor results, tactics etc. But many fans still supported Clough, albeit with some reservations, and they deserve a full explaination as to why he was not given the opportunity to complete his task. His sacking went directly against commitments made in a number of statements from Phipps. He wasn't Blackwell, Robson or Adams. He still retained plenty of fan support.

One thing that statement has done........

Blown all cedability of the self proclaimed ITKers  (possible exception blade too long who predicted delay until next week)
I didnt say delay till next week ,I just said as its the close season will see no rapid decision, what is the rush , early / mid June will be fine for an appointment .The club never said be an appointment this week, did it.
All footballers are on holiday so signings wont really start moving for a month or so , so the club can contemplate its naval, remove all the fluff and hopefully make a good choice, not hurry into a decision they will regret.
Clough had to go as his tactics riled too many fans , who want to see us be far more cavalier in approach , wether or not thats the right way. Id settle for just winning games , enough to get us out of here.

I appreciate the statement, it's good to have a weekend off!

I interpret it as that there's been some delays getting someone in, but these are merely a case of sorting out a few things as opposed to missing out. Hopefully, not with Phrill.

That caught my attention too. I take it to mean: We're not going to pay over the odds.

WHF , in american jargon , i take it to read we have to get the right man and money is secondary . If we have to pay over the odds , so be it . It will cost the club 3 times as much ( or more ) if we get it wrong.

Remember its not only the manager , but a entire new back room staff . It is a clean sweep with a new broom , but the broom cannot be from pound land , its got to be from John Lewis.

Where was this 3yr plan stated anywhere or is it just figment of (a certain section of) the supporters imagination ? As far as I have seen it was just one of the many excuses to give Clough more time no one ever seems to be able to find the 3yr plan. Maybe it was just something wobble gob McCabe spouted like the Beattie flu and Europe in 5 years. I don't believe we had the intentions of sacking Clough mores the pity so no we don't have anyone lined up. Now some pro Clough fans might want or think they somehow deserve an explanation but it is never going to happen. It would be totally un professional for the board to start slagging off Nigel about the differences of opinion which have led to a parting of ways.

"We are working with purpose and deliberation to make the right deal for the Club. "

where does it it say theres financial restrictions
no fucking where
why do people continually make shit up
you could argue they are working on a severance deal with mk dons , no matter what the cost

Think we have to give the board some credit for taking the decision they have . All was not well last season , but i would say the majority of fans , were willing to give Clough a second chance to get it right this coming season.

JP statement was good . Its not like he has to prevent a lynch mob in the car park

He's not told me anything, he's not made me feel better and he's not answered any of my questions...
But I think the guys great, I love reading his statements and he always put me at ease haha,

The right deal for the Club, the right arrangement for the Club, the right thing for the Club. Seriously if it was just about the money we wouldn't have paid off NC and his cronies.

It's the same way folk sometimes interpret good value as automatically meaning cheap.

Grrrrr

Was referring to your info about the interviews being hooked in for Brussels next week, sounds like solid info given Jims holding statement.
