(Thumbs too big for screen and hit Post too soon...) was going to say that Blade now in Sydney and I used to go to Greenhill Jr School and played footy most days after school on The Rec just at top of Hemper Lane (close to 50 yrs ago....)

I also played footy and cricket on the rec most nights and all school hols in the 70's !!

I was and would love to be on Saturday but will have to be content with BPlayering it from Toronto (and the weather forecast at Peterborough on Sat looks balmy compared to a typical Satdee over here...)
Hey GHBIT , you have made your maiden post ! Congratulations ! I well remember you driving me to Peterborough in 1982 in your black Alfasud you boy racer , but at least you had learned to go the right way round a roundabout by that stage. What a night. Edwards the King etc. One of the most memorable away trips.

Steady on lads , I'm filling up here - I had to spend my teens within shouting distance of Swillsborough & my Bessie at that stage was a pig. Not until I met GHBIT at big school that my little Blades crew was formed.

Sounds like most of this forum was there for the 0-4
By remarkable co-incidence, so was I

I'll add myself to being in attendance. Remember my Dad driving like an absolute maniac as we didn't set off from Matlock until about 6.00 p.m.
I was in the back with my elder brother finishing our homework off (Mum would've used her veto if we hadn't) and my cousin who was a bit older was sat in the front, not being used to Dad's driving he was scared witless most of the way there, much to the amusement of the back seat passengers. We walked in the ground bang on kick off time.

It is strange, Sheffield United in Division 4, the lowest we have ever been, and yet I and many others have such great memories of that season. It was truly a season from the first game on, that all Blades fans really did stick together and just simply got on with the task of supporting the players on the pitch with unquestionable support.

dint like him on boxing day 79 booted sabella 6 foot in air in first minute and we never saw the little argy wizzard after that

As I pointed out in another thread.... if the Boxing Day 1979 game had been played under current regs and refs, then the Wendy would have been down to 9 men after the 1st twenty minutes. The other thug (on the field) was Mellor. The main thug was in the dug-out with a big smile on his face.........

Condemn that silly song to history too - it gives credence to the other lot that they do not deserve.

Broke Doc Pace's scoring record? What record was that? Most goals in a season?

Most league goals in a season. Pace got 26 in 58/59 season and again in 60/61 season. Edwards went into the match at Peterborough on 26. He bagged 2 that night, and managed to pop in another 7 before the end of the season to finish on 35 league goals.

And me. Didn't we gubb them 4-0 at home as well ?

Believe so.

Maybe there should be a new branch of the supporters club

#sadoldbastardsthatrememberthe0-4andfornootherreasonwhatsoever

Its a bit like the mile high club apparently.

Wasn't that the last game of the season? If so that was my 11th birthday and we all ended up on the pitch at the end.

Too right about the thug in the dug-out, mind you old rubber neck learned his trade at Leeds along with bite yer legs Hunter

Great to see 4000 going down to posh on Saturdays. I know it's a long shot but looking for a ticket if anyone can't attend let me know

Well not quite, but not the most avid poster, more of a graser.... Fantastic night at Peterborough and am sure Keefer will be recalling some memories if he's summarizing on the weekend. And loved that car - such a pity that Syd the Blade borrowed it while i was on me hols and gave it back with a mention that "sorry, mate, the clutch has gone...."
UTB - ours to throw away from here on in...

Have a spare ticket as a mate can't make it anymore. If you still need one let me know
